Snowmass Midnight Sun

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Fawn
AOA# 30820425DOB: 8/23/200717 yrs
Sunny has been very effective as a herdsire in our breeding program. He has brought the fleece characteristics one would expect in a light fawn multi champion and he has consistantly put those charactistics into clors from fawn through black...producing banners in his offspring. Sure he can produce at least 505 black when bred to black (he has exceeded that), but look at the fiber analytics on our webpage, in both micron and density...especially in black. He not only has improved micron all the dams that he has been bred to but has consistantly produced densities over 50, even in balck and his offspring are all in the top percentages of all blacks sampled through Alpaca Consulting USA, Ian Watt and includes RR Belleza Nera, the densest female alpaca in ANY color that he has biopsied as of 9/17/13..a striking blue black female. Sunny's density is not too shabby: Follicle testing (Ian Watt)(6/30/09) Follicle density:63.17/mm2 S/P 11.2:1 Dp:Ds ratio: 1.51 He is a utility breeder who will fit into any color breeding program and raise across herd statistics across the color spectrum. We are trying to keep a relatively small herdire row and Sunny's genetics have been well represented in our herd, so he is also being offered for sale. He's young and has a strong libido. He settled his first female at 17 months.

RR Rose Godiva - Guns n Roses Daughter!

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Rose Grey
AOA# 30820555DOB: 4/28/200915 yrs
Guns n Roses has had an uncanny ability to improve virtually every female that he has been brought to, but the breeding to Sakura, was a match "made in heaven". We didn't know how good Godiva was until she turned 2 years of age. Sure, she always had extreme brightness, handle and "eye popping" length but we would have liked to bring a crimpier fleece to the show ring. Well it's crimpier at age 2 as she nurses her baby, now that it's growing a tad slower. Not to worry...it's still looong. It should come as no surprise, given Godiva's pedigree and the outstanding cria that we are seeing out of our own Snowmass Midnight Sun for 2011, RR Venezia, has us shaking our heads (in a good way!) Needless to say, this breeding has been repeated for 2012. We biopsied Godiva through Ian Watt and her results are outstanding! @ age 24 months Density: 52.6/mm2 S/P ratio: 10.8:1 In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 19.0 microns, SD 2.3 In-skin mean secondary fiber diameter: 13.8 microns, SD 2.4 Comments: "An excellent rose grey female exhibiting very high density (for any color female huacaya female alpaca), very good S:P ratio and an excellent fiber population differential. The micrograph...shows orderly and regular follicle groups which contribute to these elite fleece traits expressed in the biopsy."

We would like to congratulate Menagerie Hill Ranch in northern California for their acquisition of half interest in RR GUNS KIT Carson to join in partnership with SkyDance Ranch in Utah. CA Breedings contact Deb Galway [email protected] 707.290.7915 Utah breedings contact Terrylee Severson [email protected] 435.640.2246 His kids still win big in the ring...2016 Gold Country Gathering KC son won RCC behind our own RR Dizzy Gillespie in Grey Male and KC daughter won Color Championship, grey female AND KC son won Black Color Championship (RR Lancelot) KC took his first championship at 8 months of age. Since then, his fleece has maintained its length and fineness and he remains one of the best grey males in the country. If you have a look at his Watt follicle testing results, the reasons will be obvious. The mix of black and white fibers in his grey is homogeneous in micron. He is the only alpaca, male or female, that carries the best characteristics of the Snowmass Peruvian Casanova and Guns n Roses lines. His production has not disappointed with multiple championships among his offspring. His follicle density testing by Ian Watt is outstanding at his sampling at 2 years of age: Density: 57.9mm/mm2 Seconday: Primary fiber ratio: 9.8:1 In-skin primary fiber diameter: 22.3 micron SD 3.2 In-skin secondary fiber micron: 13.7 micron SD 2.5 Comments: "High density coupled with an excellent set of numbers for the secondary fiber population give this male potential as a significant sire in his color group. a group not known for its uniformity within each fiber population. This is a significant animal for silver grey alpacas, where the black fibers tend to be very strong in micron and vary across the staple in most alpacas of this colour" 2010: 17.6/ 3.28/ 18.6/ CF 99.8%/ 90mm 2011: 19.2/ 3.31/ 17.3/ CF 99.3% / 100mm 2012: 21.74/ 4.03/ CF 97.18 / 100mm 2013: 23.02/ 4.07/ 17.66/ CF 95.66 / 100mm 2014: 21.34 / 3.79 /17.77/ CF 98.07/ 90mm 2015: 22.5 /3.96 /17.6/ CF 96.1/ 90mm

Description

Our "next generation". Snowmass Midnight Sun had his work cut out for him to cover one of Guns n Roses best grey daughters. The early results are in and he was most definitely up to the task! Venezia took blue the only time shown, She is conformationally correct with a very very dense, very uniform fleece over an expansive neck to belly blanket. Her follicle testing confirms her fleece attributes, as done by Ian Watt: Follicle density: 53.8/mm2 Secondary:Primary Follicle Ratio: 11.8:1 In-skin Primary follicle diameter: 26.0 micron SD 3,7 In-skin Secondary follicle diameter: 21.5 micron SD 3.1 (The differential in micron between primary and secondary micron, being under 5, is excellent, as are the SDs in the 2 populations!) We bred her to RR Donnatello, a very promising junior herdsire.
