Prestige is not retired from breeding but this listing is for reference purposes. Prestige is a white full Accoyo son of Pachacuti, who is now deceased. This wonderful male has had a very illustrious career in the showring, having won four blue ribbons, two color championships and a reserve color championship. All this was accomplished in very large level five shows against some of the most highly recognized herdsires in the country. He has presence and attitude which he infuses into his offspring. Additionally, he has proven to be a pre-potent herdsire, passing on his superior traits to his offspring; each cria that he has sired are a great representation of what this male can produce. They have developed high frequency bundling crimp, which is uniform in micron and character, on perfectly conformed frames. In November 2012, we decided to have Dr. Evans do a skin biopsy on Prestige as a 12-year-old breeding male. Knowing that the recommended age for doing such a skin biopsy is 18-24 months of age, we knew that we might be doing a disservice to Prestige. However, Dr. Evans’ comments proved us wrong. Here are his comments: “Prestige is awesome for a 12 year old male. Density of 62; secondary fibers still average 22.2 microns and his primary fibers still average below 30 microns with a spread of 7.4 microns. The average micron spread in 91 of the better males in 2011 was 8.22 microns. Prestige’s stats are very genetically strong for a 12 year-old. Most 12 year-old huacaya males that I have tested show 1/3 less density as well as fineness of fiber. This boy is ahead of his time.” The best part is that in addition to having super fineness, he tends to allow the dam’s color to pass through so you can anticipate color in the offspring while still achieving fineness of fleece.

Description

CONTRACT PENDING! This young male has “rising star” written all over him. A beige full Accoyo, sired by our multi-champion herdsire and get of sire winner, Accoyo Prestige, he has already caught the judge’s eye. He placed first and received reserve color champion in one of his first outings in the show ring, even with his tui fleece. He is a very strong-boned and solid male with correct conformation and a perfect bite. His fiber is deeply crimped, uniform from topknot to tail, extremely dense, eye-popping bright, and, with bundled staples throughout. It was his first histogram, just shy of his first birthday, which really caught our attention. This is how it read—AFD of 17.7; SD of 2.5; CV of 14.3 with a mere 0.3% greater than 30. His SD and CV are the lowest ever recorded on our farm. These statistics are no fluke—his sire, Prestige, has what many in this industry are referring to as “lingering fineness”. At the age of 11, Prestige has a histogram with an AFD of 19.0; SD of 3.0; CV of 16.5 and only 0.5% greater than 30. With values like these, Penske certainly will not be just another “flash in the pan”. Producing amazing fleece such as his is a challenging goal to achieve, but is what most elite breeding programs are striving for, and what our breeding program is all about. Even some of the larger breeders are not producing these kinds of results. His dam, Accoyo Viola, can take credit for being one of the best producers on our farm. It’s still early in Penske’s show career, so enjoy basking in the glory of those blue ribbons and then begin upgrading your breeding program as you breed him to your females.
