GLR Rastamon is the densest (Follicle Density 68, micron 20.9) blackest, true black that we have ever produced on the ranch. His sire is Shavano, our true black 1/2 Accoyo Black Color Champion. His mother, LCA Jaimica, is a 5Peruvian Silken daughter, one of Snowmass Alpacas very favorite dams, and one of the reasons that we bought Jaimica from Jack and Kelly Armstrong a few years back. This guy is jet black with no tipping, what so ever, and very impressive in comformation and in bone. He stands upright and proud, even as a juvenile and was awarded the Reserve Black Male Color Championship at his first show, at seven months old, at the 2010 AAA Futurity. His first crop of kids produced plenty of Color and Reserve Color Champions and the second crop followed suit. In theory, based on his fiber stats and pedigree, we hoped that he would step up the quality of his offspring to another level from his dad, AAA Futurity 2010 Herd Sire of the Year, Shavano. So far we are more than impressed with his kids and have him bred to more than half of our foundation females for cria in 2014! His offspring in 2015 earned him the title of AAA Futurity Reserve Dark Herd Sire of the Year. GLR Rastamon is closed to outside breedings. Prestigia, an AOBA Fiber Champion herself in her day, is one of the best black full Peruvian suri females that we have ever had in our herd of foundation females. Her sire, Huacho's Prestige was a champion white suri. Her dam is a black and white paint, 5Peruvian Prestige, a direct import. Her first cria was Bagheera, now a black herdsire who was also sired by a white male, and standing stud at Moon Shadow Hills. Bagheera finished in the top five in 2004 at MAPACA & AOBA. Prestigia's 2005 male cria GLR Chipotle is now owned by Windy Hills Ranch. He placed in the top of the class in the AAA Futurity, Mapaca and Aoba Nationals and has two color championships to his credit.We were so happy with Prestigia's first Synergy son, Chipotle, that we bred Prestigia back to Synergy for a another 2006 cria which resulted in GLR Pablano. GLR Pablano is a spitting image of Chipotle except he is solid brown.In Pablano's first show he won a blue ribbon at the 2007 AAA Futurity as a juvenile in a class of 15. He went on to win 1st place and Reserve Color Champ at MIAF and 1st and Color Champ at the 2007 OABA show. Prestigia's 2007 cria is a true black female, GLR Persephone, who was fourth at the 2008 AAA Futurity, Color Champion Black Female at MAPACA 2008, the largest alpaca show in the nation,first at the Michigan Breeders Show ( no Color Championship) and Black Female Color Champion at the 2008 AOBA Nationals. Prestigia delivered a true black Shavano son, GLR Padrone in 2009 who sold and is standing stud in New Mexico. Her jet black 2010 Shavano daughter GLR Black Diamond was 1st at GWAS, 2nd at the AAA Futurity and 3rd at MAPACA ,and won the 2012 AAA Futurity Black Female Color Champion . Her 2012 cria is a brown female sired by GLR Rastamon. Prestigia was bred back to Rastamon and had a cool looking true black son, GLR Pacifico. In 2013 she had a beautiful true black male GLR Paquito. Prestigia is one of our best producers of color on the ranch, year after year. She is bred back to GLR Rastamon for a 2014 cria and if we were betting people we would be betting on another beautiful black show quality cria. She has earned her place in our hearts.
