GLR Rastamon

SuriHerdsire (Male)True Black
AOA# 31115674DOB: 8/28/200915 yrs
GLR Rastamon is the densest (Follicle Density 68, micron 20.9) blackest, true black that we have ever produced on the ranch. His sire is Shavano, our true black 1/2 Accoyo Black Color Champion. His mother, LCA Jaimica, is a 5Peruvian Silken daughter, one of Snowmass Alpacas very favorite dams, and one of the reasons that we bought Jaimica from Jack and Kelly Armstrong a few years back. This guy is jet black with no tipping, what so ever, and very impressive in comformation and in bone. He stands upright and proud, even as a juvenile and was awarded the Reserve Black Male Color Championship at his first show, at seven months old, at the 2010 AAA Futurity. His first crop of kids produced plenty of Color and Reserve Color Champions and the second crop followed suit. In theory, based on his fiber stats and pedigree, we hoped that he would step up the quality of his offspring to another level from his dad, AAA Futurity 2010 Herd Sire of the Year, Shavano. So far we are more than impressed with his kids and have him bred to more than half of our foundation females for cria in 2014! His offspring in 2015 earned him the title of AAA Futurity Reserve Dark Herd Sire of the Year. GLR Rastamon is closed to outside breedings. Awards Received 2010 AAA Futurity- 1st, true black juvenile males- Reserve Black Male Color Champion 2010 GWAS- 1st, true black juvenile male 2015 AAA Futurity Reserve Dark Herd Sire of the Year

AOA# 1435016DOB: 7/3/200420 yrs
Peruvian Cover Girl is bay black with white markings, good penciling and great luster. Cover Girl's first cria, GLR Little River Girl was a fawn super dense, high luster Synergy daughter who was second at the 2007 AOBA Nationals, her first show, as a juvenile. Cover Girl's 2008 cria, GLR Chepita, sired by our 5 time white Color Champion male, Young Felipe, is an awesome medium brown, dense, and incredibly lustrous and greasy girl who sold at the 2009 AAA Futurity. Cover Girl's 2011 cria was a Shavano daughter, GLR Chinara who sold at the AOBA auction as the highest selling suri female to Beloved's Farm. Cover Girl's 2012 cria is a beautiful little female, GLR Chloe who has the consistently excellent fiber characteristics that Cover Girl has produced time and time again. Chloe will be traveling with us as a member of our 2013 show string. Cover Girl's 2013 male GLR Rastamon cria is an awesome bay black flashy little guy, GLR Cruz, with great density and lock. She is bred back to GLR Rastamon and expecting in late summer of 2014. This girl puts out incredible lock, luster and density consistently on all of her offspring no matter who she is bred to. She has earned her spot in our herd and won our hearts with her offspring. She is a female we can always count on to produce great babies.

Description

GLR Cruz is the flashiest little black show boy! Not only is he handsome to see in the pasture, he has black genetics that run deep on both sides of his pedigree. His mother, Peruvian Cover Girl has produced a long line of successful offspring (GLR Chepita, GLR Chinara, GLR Little River Girl), for us here at Great Lakes Ranch. Most notable, are the excellent fiber characteristics of her offspring with exceptionally defined lock, luster and density. Add to that his sire, GLR Rastamon's, density, lock, luster and the rare genetics of the Shavano and Rastamon pedigree, this young boy ought to be a fun to watch develop into a junior herdsire. Cruz will show in the spring of 2014.
