Summer has a easy personality and excellent mothering skills. Her heritage is filled with color, black and grey, as witnessed in the grey highlights at the edges of her lovely fleece. Her conformation is boxy and straight, well-balanced and strong, giving her an easy movement and confident stature. With Summer's daughter and full sister in our foundation herd, the sons of her sister in our herdsire row and their offspring in our show string... it can be seen that we like these genetics. Now, you can benefit from this solid base of these robust bloodlines. She is a lovely daughter from our (still missed) Lola and the multiple champion Kanaka, which means her lineage boasts Felix, Rayo de Sol, Avatar among others. Though Summer did not really get a chance at the show ring like her champion MRG full sister, she has a soft, fine fiber with high frequency crimp along her long staple and with good uniformity across her blanket. Her medium fawn, lustrous fiber is lovely to touch and spin! Her first cria is an eye-catching true black girl, the daughter of the impressive Chase Tavern Juggernaut. She was born in the midst of our record breaking rainy season in Colorado that year (that led to the 500-yr floods in northern Colorado). We found this cria sitting in a puddle in the down-pouring rain under the run-off from the barn overhanging pouring over her head! Struggling against the confines of the towels while being dried off and warmed up, she quickly got her feet under her and really took off. The little cria was all energy and spunk, jumping and running everywhere! We couldn't help but think of her as a little imp. So, we named her Water Sprite! Sprite is so curious and friendly that she trots up to us each time we enter the paddock to see us. Circumstances and timing prevented us from breeding Summer. So, we were happy to finally breed Summer again, this time to our Futurity & GWAS reserve champion stud, Major General -- a Patagonia's Ernesto son that is packing on the fiber! We secretly hoped for a rose grey cria, tapping into both her and his latent grey genes, but we were excited to produce a lovely dark maroon / bay black girl that combines these two alpacas' fiber and frame. Carmine is soooo soft and silky, that she has been described as the Velveteen Rabbit. Carmine is now bred for her own cria. Summer was bred to the one and only Matrix for a special cria this year that we unfortunately lost before birth.

26x champ, incl. '16, '17, '18 AOA Nationals AOA Color Champion in 2016 fleece and in 2017 Halter and Fleece! He has more wins that can be counted, but check his show results below to see his consistency! We had been looking for quite a while for that one special black male to add to our herd in complement to our Dark Secret / Black Maestrom line. Fate smiled on us when we saw Stradivaruius as a juvenile to add to our program. Even in his tui tips, we knew he was the one and acted immediately. Even with our experience and confidence, we could not help be pleased with the confirmation of our opinion by his exceptional show results. A true black herdsire, Stradivarius is a 26x fleece and halter black champion with champion bloodlines in his pedigree which hails back to both Snowmass and Patagonia, through his sire Snowmass Andean Midnight and dam Patagonia's Simone (pivotal farms that were pioneers in the industry). His show wins include AOA National Show Halter Champion, AOA National Show Invited Champion Champion, and 3x AOA National Fleece Show Champion. We have been very selective with breedings to him, closed to outside breedings, to ensure the best case scenarios in most situations for black offspring. From this, 83% of the time he produced black (TB & BB) and 100% of the time, when bred to black dams. When bred to dams of other colors he produced black 43% of the time but darkened the cria 100% of the time. His spectacular offspring include AutumnSun's Aislyn, who won banners at the AOA National Fleece show both as a Juvenile in 2021 for us and as a 2yr old in 2023 for her new owners, Carol and Christian Howard of Cinco C Alpacas and Lynn Edens of Little Creek Alpacas. His son, AutumnSun's Peacekeeper, took a champion placing as a 3 year old breeding stud for his new owners in Austria, Oberstein Alpacas! Both Aislyn and Peacekeeper are making their own beautiful black crias for their new herds. Stradivarius is closed to outside breedings and us only available as service sire for sold ASA alpacas.

Sweet Juggernaut girl

Description

This girl was born in the middle of a storm, found sitting in a puddle with the shelter roof runoff pouring over her head. She had such long fleece and she was so wet that we could not tell if she was a suri or a huacaya until we figured out who her dam was! While being dried, after she had warmed up, she started kicking and fight our efforts -- a really good showing of her fighting spirit. She continues to be an assertive girl. So, her name is a reflection of her notable start and impish nature. She comes up for her greeting when we are the paddock but sometimes when she is feeling impish, she frowns and starts to bluster like to spit - but then she 'peels off' to trot away when she catches your eye (you can almost hear the faerie laughter). These girls and their personalities! When bred to Grand River Marquis, she produced a lovely, buttery soft classic medium silver grey girl that we have kept in our grey breeding program. The boys named her Umbreon for her lavender fleece. The next breeding she produced a rock solid (can a cria be 'rooted to the ground'?) black male by Dauntless that is packing on lots of impressive fiber. The look of this boy! He is developing into a sturdy modern grey male, which we named Minotaur for his impressive "tree trunk" legs evident at birth. When bred to Stradivarius she gave us a well developed true black girl we named Night Rain that has a nice crimp style, good staple and good coverage. We look forward to breeding her to one of our other black herdsires -- Maelstrom, Guinness or Secret. Sprite was then bred to our other top shelf black male, Maelstrom, and produced a lovely true black girl, Siren Call. We have high hopes for at least breeding if not showing this one. This year she has been bred for grey again with a pairing to one of our Quixotic sons, Trouble, who showed he could not just throw greys but ones with good coverage, and bright, crimpy fiber when he made our Rabble Rouser out of Totality. Fingers cross for this in a girl model from Sprite!
