HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Becca is a bundle of black fleece and personality. That fleece is soft and extremely bright. She has solid conformation and is elegant as she stands in the field. Her typey head is adorable as well! Becca is a very curious alpaca--she has been since she was young. Combine that with a mischievous attitude and you have a charming alpaca! She, like many alpacas, is food motivated and loves treats. She would make a fine pet for a happy home! “Becca” is a darling true black daughter of our SBF Nightshade and Woodland Meadows Greyson. She is a ribbon winner but lacks great mothering skills. Her fleece is soft, especially for a black-fleeced animal. It also boasts excellent brightness, moderate staple length, and well defined low amplitude crimp. Her conformation and coverage are strong. She features the typey head that her late sire Greyson threw on all of his crias. In addition to these attributes, Becca also has a curious disposition. She always has to have her nose in everything, checking out our every move! Becca took second place halter in the 2012 Kentucky Classic in a highly competitive class. Becca is named for Rebecca J. Cole, who in 1867 became the second African American woman to receive an M.D. degree in the United States. Dr. Cole was able to overcome racial and gender barriers to medical education, culminating with her graduation from the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Cole opened a Women's Directory Center to provide medical and legal services to destitute women and children in Philadelphia, then later led a similar center in Washington DC operated by the Association for the Relief of Destitute Colored Women and Children. During her nearly 50 years of medical practice, Dr. Cole fought tirelessly for the medical rights of African Americans, women, children, and the poor.

Description

Dreams, a.k.a. “The Dreamer,” is a promising young male with a stunning presence and beautiful true black fleece. He dreams of the time when he will become a great stud. Though he may dream of achieving that goal, we know he has that potential, considering both his phenotype and genotype, to become an award -winning herdsire. Dreams is the first cria out of our true black girl Becca, who is a favorite of our farm visitors. She has passed on her mischievous personality to Dreams. His sire is the illustrious multi-champion grey Jeremiah’s Quatrain. With his genetics, Dreams will fit nicely into any breeding program that is looking to breed dark animals. Dreams physical attributes also show he has potential for success. He has beautiful conformation and a square build, with excellent coverage and large bone. His fleece has incredible staple length with extreme softness. We are offering half interest in Dreams in an effort to get him to more shows and further spread his genetic influence. We welcome the opportunity to partner with another farm on this promising junior herdsire. We will be showing Dreams in 2015.
