HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Toledo is the densest alpaca to ever reside on our farm. He has been the signature stud on our herdsire row for many years now. A multi champion in the show ring, Toledo is compact with excellent conformation and stunning fleece. He still maintains fantastic character at age 13! He is so dense that he sometimes doesn’t come in when it’s raining because his fleece is way too dense for him to feel the water! Toledo walks like a prince and knows his job. You can call him in from the field when it is time to breed. Toledo’s bloodlines are rare, especially in a grey alpaca. Best of all, he has sired champions. He has two champion grey sons in Colorado who are now siring champions of their own. Don’t be put off by his age--Toledo can still do his job and has many years left in his breeding career. His progeny show how relevant his genetics still are in the American herd. Toledo is an exceptional candidate for ANY farm’s herdsire row! It would be a shame for him not to be able continue to produce the stunning crias he has proven that he can sire time after time. We are looking forward to the crias out of his son Pierre, and his daughter Mayana who is now on our foundation herd. Now is your chance to acquire a truly exceptional herdsire! We call Toledo “the Ace,” and for good reason. Toledo indeed is our ace, the epitome of an exceptional, elite stud—with champion progeny, and a couple of banners himself. He has already proven that he can throw champion crias—this is well established. Toledo and his outstanding genetics are something to be cherished. We are thrilled to have Toledo's bloodlines, which are very rare east of the Mississippi, to our grey and black breeding program--and proud to be able to offer them to you! In his limited show career, Toledo competed very well. He earned blue ribbons in halter classes, and he also received an unofficial "third" place in a championship class of 47 - having been sandwiched with the renowned Bisturi as Julio Sumar was determining the Reserve Champion at GWAS 2005. (ATV Adonnis had been selected Color Champion.) In 2006, Mike Safley commented enthusiastically about his fleece at GWAS, awarding him 2nd place, with first place again going to ATV Adonnis. At the same show, Toledo was awarded grey Color Champion. Toledo is typey, with a gorgeous head and a perfect bite. His fleece character and density are OFF The Charts! The picture of his fleece shown here was at 4 years of age! Toledo’s crias include some stars: Argenta Granite (owned by Argenta Alpacas): Granite won the Grey Color Championship at the TxOLAN Alpaca Show in February 2012. Chimera’s Orion Grey (owned by Chimera Ranch): Champion at the National Western and Reserve Color Champion grey at Mid-America. Though he is a compact male, Toledo has excellent conformation and coverage (and a fine personality to boot). His fleece is absolutely stunning. He has extreme density and gorgeous crimp.

Sweet Friday

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Friday has been our best producer and has earned her retirement! She is content to be spoiled rotten and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Friday, who is affectionately called “Old Lady”, has never known a stranger. She is friendly and an easy keeper! Friday is also an exceptional PR alpaca. She adores treats and having her chin scratched. We are looking for a good home for Friday where she can live out the rest of her days in luxury. We wish for someone to love and care for her as much as we do. She is truly a wonderful alpaca! Our favorite "older" girl in our herd, Sweet Friday, was born on Friday the 13th, but is not bad luck at all! Sweet Friday lives up to her name, and has been consistently producing great-looking, quality crias. She is a well proven, terrific dam with an excellent supply of colostrum and milk--a heritable trait she's passed on to her daughters. Friday is a daughter of the renowned Pperuvian Felix. From Estancia Accoyo of Peru, Felix was one of the elite group of males imported in 1994 that included Caligula, Victor, Timoteo, Vengador, Leon, Terror, Camilio, and Pluro. Sweet Friday produced outstanding cria for us each year. She gave birth in 2007, to a beautiful, solid bay black female named "Caterina." Caterina was sired by Aussie Colorado Dillinger, a Pperuvian Caligula grandson. Caterina has fantastic fleece and outstanding conformation, and has won ribbons in the show ring in competitive classes. Sweet Friday gave birth in 2008 to a 1/2 Accoyo, rose grey girl out of Mr. Lincoln, a Pperuvian Timoteo son. This cute, friendly little girl named "Rosie" (Rosalind Franklin) has the same cuddly personality as mom, and has become a farm favorite. Friday gave birth in 2009 to her third female in a row, a beautiful light fawn female with light vicuna-pattern shading! Named "Christianne," she is a full sister to Friday's 2008 cria Rosie. In spring 2011 Friday gave us a boy for the first time, a 1/2 Accoyo brown cria named Percy out of our Gregor Mendel. He was one of the most mischievous cria we've ever had on the farm; he has been sold as a pet. In 2012 Friday gave birth to a cute grey boy with both personality and promise named 'Gus.' Gus, listed under his own page on this site. She followed this up in 2014 giving birth to another grey boy name 'Pierre' out of our outstanding stud MFI Toledo. Friday is a smart, experienced dam with great mothering skills. She is now retired because of her age and her difficulty in holding her weight while nursing.

Description

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Pierre is the best alpaca born on the farm in our history. We can’t say enough about this herdsire prospect! He is good size. He has perfect conformation. He has exceptional bone and coverage. His fleece is stunningly gorgeous! It has outstanding crimp, consistency, staple length, and softness. His density rivals his father’s. That is not a light statement, as Toledo has ELITE density. Pierre is award winning, but deserved more opportunities in the show ring. He is FANTASTIC! With people, he is laid back. With other males, he is docile, but he holds his ground. Pierre is a star that is eager to go to work for a grey breeding program and assist in boosting the quality of the herd. He will be a source of excellent grey progeny. You do not want to miss out on Pierre! We like to call Pierre “the Prince” due to his stately appearance and regal attitude. He takes his time and knows he is special. This prince is showing potential to turn into a truly sovereign sire. Pierre is the son of our multiple champion producing, top herdsire MFI Toledo. The fleece Toledo throws on his progeny is simply gorgeous. Pierre’s mother, Sweet Friday, has been a consistent producer of excellent quality crias. Pierre’s fleece features absolutely beautiful crimp, and very long staple length. He has exceptional brightness and nice density. Also, Pierre is above average in size and has solid conformation. This boy has great potential, and every visitor to the farm stops for a second or third look! Pierre is named for Pierre-Simon Laplace, who was a prominent early 19th-century French mathematical physicist and astronomer who made crucial contributions in the area of planetary motion, by applying Sir Isaac Newton’s theory of gravitation to the entire solar system. His work on several theories of probability and statistics is considered pioneering, and has influenced a generations of mathematicians. Pierre placed second to a multiple-championship winning male in his first show, and he was a strong contender for the reserve championship. At the AOA National Show in 2016 he showed as a light silver grey, and again was a very close second to the blue ribbon-winning male in the class.
