Like the tempest, Stormy flashes and resonates like lightning and thunder. His genetics and phenotype are strong like hurricane force winds. Stormy makes a stunning first impression—he is large and imposing, but with a quiet and sweet personality. Fineness, density, conformation, character, staple length, coverage, crimp--Stormy has them all and show judges have confirmed it!! His fleece is extremely bright, fine, dense, and crimpy. Stormy is following in the footsteps of his bay black half-brother, 10x Champion Rumm Runner. Stormy's sire, MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite, has had limited outside breedings, which makes getting access to these championship lines a challenge. Stormy's lighter color comes from his great grandsire PPPeruvian Augusto; the rest of Stormy's genetic background includes blacks and browns. His first crias are on the ground, in many colors, and all have inherited Stormy's fantastic fleece character! Stormy took 1st Place, Halter at the 2008 Ohio Buckeye Show and the 2008 MAPACA Jubilee!! Tim Lavan said that Stormy had the best brightness, most consistent fleece coverage, and had consistent crimp throughout. At his first show (Level V 2008 Indiana), Stormy earned second, with Peter Kennedy stating that his fleece was finer and had more character than the first place alpaca. At the 2008 Kentucky Classic, Stormy placed second in his class, to the eventual color champion, and Jill McLeod said, "both animals are very strong and these breeders will do well with these animals. They both are well-conformed, have density, fineness, staple length, character." Stormy's dam, Tropical Delight (1/4 Accoyo), also gave birth to 10X Color/Reserve Champion herdsire Rumm Runner, and at the 2008 Buckeye Show, Stormy and Runner delivered 1st in "Produce of Dam" for Tropical Delight! With Augusto, Donovan, Matador, and Black Mesquite in Stormy's background, he is carrying on the tradition of ribbons in the show ring, and we expect him to have a great breeding career.

WWFC Ruth Fulton Benedict

HuacayaOpen (Female)Dark Brown
AOA# 32064209DOB: 9/1/201113 yrs
HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Ruthie has a lot to offer. She hangs out in the back of the herd and tries to blend in. But she is truly an exceptional dam that stands out! Her fleece is consistent, dense and soft. She possesses nice handle as well. Ruthie is a great mom, which is a characteristic of her line. She is also an easy breeder and birther. With an impressive ribbon at a tough show, she is nicely decorated. At first glance, Ruthie may be underrated to some, but in reality she is a solid production dam that could be very useful to an alpaca breeding program. Ruthie is a lovely ribbon-winning dark brown girl! She has a friendly disposition, which is similar to her mother Rosie and her grandmother Friday. However, she does not desire to be the center of attention. This friendly and curious personality is an inherited trait, but only manifests itself when she is open! Her mother and grandmother are also both great mothers, which is another heritable trait! Ruthie is a beautiful dark brown with black shading on her feet, ears, and nose. She has a cute and inquisitive look about her! Her fleece is extremely dense and soft, and is bright with a great handle. Ruthie has a great lineage that includes PPeruvian Timoteo, Pperuvian Felix, Rosario, and 5Peruvian Quicksilver. Ruthie gave birth in June 2014 to her first cria--a gorgeous light light fawn boy named "Tyson" out of Mesquite's Tropical Storm. She followed that up with in fall 2015 with a true black boy named "Stay Positive" out of the late Woodland Meadows Greyson. Ruthie has proven to be a great mom! With Ruthie’s genetics and mothering skills, she would be a valuable asset to any herd. Ruthie is named for Ruth Fulton Benedict, an American social scientist who helped lay the foundation of modern anthropology. Building on the work of Franz Boas in exploring the relationship of individuals to their cultures, her fieldwork among Native Americans, and her studies of contemporary European and Asian cultures, led her to emphasize concepts of cultural configuration, national character, and the relationship between individual personality and culture. Her highly influential books, including Patterns of Culture (1934) and The Chrysanthemum and the Sword: Patterns of Japanese Culture (1946), popularized the anthropological concept of culture, even as they attacked racism and ethnocentrism.

Description

One of our newest and cutest additions to the herd, "Tyson" has a unique fawn coloration pattern that makes him stand out in the herd. Tyson is the first cria out of our ribbon-winning girl "Ruthie." He is sired by our Mesquite's Tropical Storm, who has been consistently producing high quality crias for us. Tyson is named for Neil deGrasse Tyson, who is an American astrophysicist, author, and science educator. He currently holds the position of Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space. From 2006 to 2011, he hosted the educational science television show NOVA ScienceNow on PBS. Since 2009, he has hosted the weekly radio show StarTalk, and in 2014, Tyson began hosting Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey on FOX. Tyson is part of a large group of male crias we had born on our farm in 2014. Unfortunately we needed to make some tough choices as to who we were going to add to our show string and who we were going to offer for sale as pets! We have made the difficult decision to offer Tyson for sale as a companion, fleece, or pet male. Mateo has wonderful, soft, and crimpy light fawn fleece, but does not have the conformation or density expected in fawn herdsires. Tyson is very friendly and curious, but at this point has not begun halter training. Alpacas are herd animals and cannot be kept alone, therefore we offer all of our pet animals for sale in sets of two or more--at BOGO pricing. Tyson is being offered for sale with his sidekick Mateo for a total of $200. These boys have been buddies since Mateo was born in the fall of 2014. These boys will make a wonderful pair of pets for the family wishing to acquire its first alpacas, as they'll be able to grow up with the family! They also would be ideal as companions in a larger fiber herd. They are currently intact, but could be gelded once they reach about 18 months in age.
