Final Update: Frannie delivered her latest cria, a female classic silver grey girl out of 8X champion Irish Meadows Peruvian Showtime, on May 7th, 2019. Frannie is now sold; look for her and her cria at Circus City Alpacas in Peru, Indiana.
Hi all!
Frannie is a gem with a combination of rare bloodlines and quality. She has been with us since she was a wee cria. The fleece she produces is some of the best grey fleece we have ever had at our farm! She is certainly worth the investment!
HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Frannie was always the best grey dam on our farm. She has a nearly spotless blanket with AWESOME density. Though compact, she has excellent conformation and coverage. She has always been a good mom with lots of milk. She is very protective of her babies. Every one of her crias has been stunning. She is an exceptional grey producer! Frannie deserves a spot on a farm’s foundation herd. She would be a great addition to any farm.
Françoise was born just after noon on May 31st, and she hit the ground at an amazing 20.3 lbs! She is a solidly built little girl with a broad chest and excellent squareness to her frame. Her color is equally astounding--the most gorgeous shade of light silver, with only a few barely detectable small spots in her blanket. Her fleece density rivals any animal we have had born on the farm, and she has amazing medium frequency crimp and bundling.
Frannie had some issues with an inner ear infection early on, and still has a droopy right ear and paralysis in her upper right eyelid. While these cosmetic problems did limit her show ring career, she has grown into a great breeding female and we are excited about the crias this girl will produce!
Frannie gave birth to her first cria--a cute rose grey female out of the multiple get-of-sire winner Charles P. Atlas--in May 2013. Frannie followed that up with a promising true black boy out of the late Woodland Meadows Greyson in June 2014. Frannie's two most recent crias really prove her potential as a foundation female; check out the separate listings for her crias Maya Zatz and Fausto de Elhuyar!
As with her own mother and grandmother, she has turned out to be a great mom, producing lots of milk for her cria.
Frannie is named after Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, the French biologist and current director of the Unité de Régulation des Infections Rétrovirales at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France. She was the winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, which she shared with her mentor Luc Montagnier. The two virologists are credited with discovering the retroviral human immunodeficiency virus.
Frannie is confirmed bred to 8X halter champion Irish Meadows Peruvian Showtime for an May 2019 cria.
