Beautiful Fleece with Lasting Fineness!

French Champlain

HuacayaMaleMedium Fawn
AOA# 8494132DOB: 6/7/200321 yrs
French Champlain joined the Whispering Willows Alpacas herd in 2010, and has been a great addition to our herdsire row. This is a beautiful male. His fleece is dense, crimpy, and baby soft with long staple length for a middle-aged male! Look at his fiber data at eight years of age! Incredible!! His fleece just shines in the sun and is the most gorgeous fawn color. He has excellent conformation and coverage down to his toes! He has proven himself a great breeder. Champlain has a fantastic pedigree with rare bloodlines, including the 1994 Alianza import Peruvian Andrajo, and the 1998 Accoyo import 6Peruvian Accoyo the Last Don. His brother is the well known Mr. Roosevelt of Crescent Moon Ranch. Champlain is a very easy going male and is not at all aggressive. He makes a perfect great uncle for young weanling males, as he is gentle with all the other animals. We have decided to sell Champlain and his good friend Anders Celcius together as a pair of pet/companion alpacas. These two boys have been friends since Anders was weaned from his mother; they have essentially been together since (except during a short winter stretch of inclement weather!). We want these boys to stay together, and since they are no longer part of our breeding program due to several up and coming young males in our herd, we are making them available as companion or fiber animals to a family looking for 4H animals or pets. Neither boy has been gelded at this point but could be for 4H purposes. Both have good personalities--Champlain is very good on the halter; Anders still needs some practice! Please contact us to inquire about this pair of boys.

Dam: WLA Oreo

Retired Mom and Companion!

WLA Oreo

HuacayaOpen (Female)Dark Brown
AOA# 165630DOB: 1/30/1994
Oreo is a Chilean import from one of the last importations, which represented what are now some of the best and rarest bloodlines in the ARI herd. Oreo is currently the matriarch of our herd. As she is now getting upwards in years, we are offering Oreo for sale at the price of a companion or pet female. Oreo could be the perfect companion for other breeding females or auntie to weanling and yearling girls. She is easy to handle and gets along well with older and younger females. Oreo was been bred to our own French Champlain in 2010. We had thought she had come open, since she had not held her previous pregnancy and was acting very nice; but she surprised us on July 7th, 2011 with a cute, fuzzy, white little boy named "Bernie." As she has trouble maintaining her weight at this age while nursing, she is now retired as a breeder. Oreo would be an inexpensive but potentially valuable purchase for the farm that is looking for a companion girl for breeding females, or to establish a pet/fiber herd. Oreo is being offered for sale at a companion animal price, and is also available as part of a package of older retired alpaca girls. E-mail or call us to inquire about Oreo today!

Description

"Bernie" was a surprise addition to our herd in early July 2011. While we had bred his mom Oreo in 2010 to our beautiful full Peruivan herdsire French Champlain, we thought that Oreo had lost the pregnacy, since she is an older girl who had slipped her last breeding. To our surprise, she delivered a big, healthy little boy in summer 2011! Bernie has lots of soft, fluffy fleece with good staple length. As he appears to be lacking density, however, he is likely destined to be a very nice fiber animal and pet alpaca for a lucky future owner. Bernie is named for Daniel Bernoulli, an 18th-century, Dutch-born mathematician and physician who was just one member of the well known Swiss mathematical family. His father, Johann Bernoulli, was also a renowned mathematician. Daniel Bernoulli's most important work considered the basic properties of fluid flow, pressure, density and velocity. His most famous work is the Bernoulli principle, which states that as the velocity of a fluid increases, the pressure exerted by that fluid decreases.
