The Tempest

Mesquite's Tropical Storm

HuacayaMaleLight Fawn
AOA# 31116961DOB: 8/28/200717 yrs
Like the tempest, Stormy flashes and resonates like lightning and thunder. His genetics and phenotype are strong like hurricane force winds. Stormy makes a stunning first impression—he is large and imposing, but with a quiet and sweet personality. Fineness, density, conformation, character, staple length, coverage, crimp--Stormy has them all and show judges have confirmed it!! His fleece is extremely bright, fine, dense, and crimpy. Stormy is following in the footsteps of his bay black half-brother, 10x Champion Rumm Runner. Stormy's sire, MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite, has had limited outside breedings, which makes getting access to these championship lines a challenge. Stormy's lighter color comes from his great grandsire PPPeruvian Augusto; the rest of Stormy's genetic background includes blacks and browns. His first crias are on the ground, in many colors, and all have inherited Stormy's fantastic fleece character! Stormy took 1st Place, Halter at the 2008 Ohio Buckeye Show and the 2008 MAPACA Jubilee!! Tim Lavan said that Stormy had the best brightness, most consistent fleece coverage, and had consistent crimp throughout. At his first show (Level V 2008 Indiana), Stormy earned second, with Peter Kennedy stating that his fleece was finer and had more character than the first place alpaca. At the 2008 Kentucky Classic, Stormy placed second in his class, to the eventual color champion, and Jill McLeod said, "both animals are very strong and these breeders will do well with these animals. They both are well-conformed, have density, fineness, staple length, character." Stormy's dam, Tropical Delight (1/4 Accoyo), also gave birth to 10X Color/Reserve Champion herdsire Rumm Runner, and at the 2008 Buckeye Show, Stormy and Runner delivered 1st in "Produce of Dam" for Tropical Delight! With Augusto, Donovan, Matador, and Black Mesquite in Stormy's background, he is carrying on the tradition of ribbons in the show ring, and we expect him to have a great breeding career.

Dam: Absolut Melody

True Black with Rare Bloodlines

Absolut Melody

HuacayaOpen (Female)True Black
AOA# 31527934DOB: 9/23/200816 yrs
HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Melody is a lovely alpaca with a curious disposition. A non-fading black, her conformation is solid and she is a joy to view out in the pasture. She gets along well with others. A charming alpaca, she always seems to have her ears forward and likes to pose for the camera. Also, as her name suggests, she sings! We believe she would make a fine pet! Melody is a compact female with solid conformation and coverage. She has excellent handle and staple length to her fleece. Melody also has a gentle and curious personality. Melody is quite charming in her vocal talents. She is a singer—especially at feeding time—and freely voices her opinions! Melody's pedigree is unusual. Her mother Constanza arrived in utero during one of the last importations; these last tightly screened importations represent some of the rarest and best lineages in the U.S. herd. Melody's father is the highly decorated Absolut from the breeding program of Alpacas of America. Her paternal grandfather is the renowned Peruvian Guellermo. Melody gave birth in May 2013 to her first cria: a cute rose grey boy with presence and excellent softness, named Enrico, out of our champion-producing grey male MFI Toledo. She gave birth in June 2014 to her first girl--a beautiful bay black cria out of our award-winning stud Mesquite's Tropical Storm. The combination of Melody’s and Stormy’s genetics resulted in Jocelyn, who can best be described as demonstrating the total alpaca package. Jocelyn is a prime example of what Melody is capable of throwing.

Service Sire: High Plains Rocketman

Super Sam Son!

High Plains Rocketman

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Fawn
AOA# 30469136DOB: 7/15/200618 yrs
HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Rocketman, known affectionally as Rocket, is the best fawn herdsire ever to stand stud on our herdsire row. He has it all! His fleece is incredibly dense, crimpy and soft. His conformation is flawless, with stunning coverage. He has presence! He is also enormous and is easily the biggest alpaca on our farm. This guy really has the WOW factor. He has legendary bloodlines hailing from High Plains in Canada. With the dark in his background, Rocket can throw dark cria as well. We recommend breeding him to grey. He is also a multi champion in the show ring! He is charming with people and loves to show himself off. He will certainly provide visual interest for whoever visits your farm. Rocket loves to watch the girls, and is happiest with them in sight! This is an ELITE alpaca, that would be a signature stud on ANY farm’s herdsire row. This is a prime opportunity to improve your breeding program. High Plains Rocketman is now standing stud at Fishback Creek Farm in Indiana! We have deemed Rocketman “the stampede.” This is due not only to his curious, high-energy pacing as he watches the girls, but also to his ability to overwhelm you with his brilliant phenotype. Rocketman has it all: large size, gorgeous conformation, excellent coverage and beautiful fleece. He has the signature HFL Super Sam head. His fleece is incredibly dense and soft with robust staple length and brightness! This guy is the complete package – he definitely has that “WOW” factor that stops people in their tracks! Rocketman’s genetics are the definition of elite. Rocketman is a Super Sam son; HFL Super Sam is one of the most decorated males in the Canadian herd. For the breeders who know Super Sam…no explanation is needed. For those who haven’t heard of Super Sam…he is THE 16x Get-of-Sire award winning sire…THE Futurity winning herdsire male….THE herdsire to Futurity and Color and Supreme Champions in a whole array of colors….THE stud who changed the way the Canadians defined a true impact stud sire…THE stud who is CLOSED to outside breedings. Rocketman is the genetics package you need to have in your herd! Our thanks to Rick and Evelyn Derksen of High Plains Alpacas in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for allowing us to acquire this multiple champion male.

Description

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Jocelyn is a laid back alpaca with lots of black in her background. She loves the camera and always greets you with her ears forward. Jocelyn is very curious. It always appears as though she is smiling! Her conformation is awesome, and she has exceptional character in her fleece. This is paired with great brightness and staple length. Jocelyn fits right in with a dark breeding program. Her smile will also brighten your day! This bay black girl really has the "wow" factor! She has stellar conformation including a cute, typey head. Jocelyn’s fleece is exceptional. It is super bright, with even handle, and great staple length. Her fleece is also very dense and features high amplitude crimp throughout. Her sire Stormy consistently threw this crimp and conformation in his progeny. Jocelyn is named for Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who is a Northern Irish astrophysicist. As a postgraduate student, she discovered the first radio pulsars while studying and working with her thesis supervisor, Antony Hewish, for which Hewish shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with Martin Ryle. Bell Burnell was President of the Royal Astronomical Society from 2002 to 2004, and President of the Institute of Physics from October 2008 until October 2010. Jocelyn is a young female that would be a welcome addition to any farm breeding for darker animals. She has black on both sides of her certificate! She has a solid phenotype as well as many elite lines in her lineage. Don’t miss the opportunity to acquire this promising alpaca!
