HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Phenom is an essential black male to consider for a breeding program. He is big and strong. His conformation and coverage are excellent. Even though he is a bit older, his fleece is retaining softness and character. It is bright with a lovely handle. He features stunning bloodlines, and is a very efficient and effective breeder. All of his cria have been female until our own Fausto was born in fall 2016. How could you not be interested in a nice true black herdsire who throws female cria consistently? Phenom is ready to go to work for you! Phenomenon is a proven herdsire with all female crias on the ground so far. His 2013 bay black daughter, Cecelia, did well for herself in the show ring. He also threw his first grey girl, named Constance, in 2014. She has the potential to be truly exceptional and award-winning. From Black to Fawn to Grey, these girls all have elegance, style, and AWESOME, extremely long staple length fleece! Phenomenon’s conformation mirrors his sire the late 6Peruvian Conan. They are both tall with exceptional coverage and similar head styles. Phenomenon's pedigree is, well, phenomenal! His maternal grandsire is the famous Bolivian Black Thunder. He is a paternal half brother to the multi-champion Peruvian Lancaster. He is maternal half-brother to the grey multi-champion Victoria's Hamilton. And, now, Phenomenon is now passing these outstanding genetics on to his offspring. Phenomenon has a quiet confidence that commands attention. Whether he is in the pasture, show ring, or in “with the girls," this show-stopping male is a sight to behold. He is truly a phenomenon - his fiber is getting a tighter crimp as he ages, yet he is maintaining a beautiful, buttery soft handle! Note: All seven of Phenom's cria to date have been female!

Dam: Rosalind Franklin

Loveable 1/2 Accoyo Rose Grey!

Rosalind Franklin

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Rose Grey
AOA# 31126199DOB: 10/5/200816 yrs
Rosie is a cute girl with a mischievous but extremely friendly personality. Much like her mother, she loves to be around people and has been the top PR animal on our farm when she is open! Rosie has been nicknamed “Stonewall” due to her desire to stand between you and the herd when you are taking photos. She is VERY photogenic. Rosie is a classic rose grey out of a solid bay black dam and a fawn sire with vicuna shading. She has nice square conformation and is a compact adult like her mother. Also like her mother, Rosie is an easy birther and a great mom with lots of milk for her crias. Rosie’s fleece is very soft and dense. She continues to be a reliable and consistent producer for us. Rosie is half Accoyo by lineage. Her paternal grandsire is the legendary Pperuvian Timoteo, while her maternal grandsire is the renowned Pperuvian Felix. From Estancia Accoyo of Peru, Timoteo and Felix were two of the elite group of males imported in 1994 that included Caligula, Victor, Vengador, Leon, Terror, Camilio, and Pluro. A half Accoyo classic rose grey is not an easy thing to find. This is a great opportunity to add these genetics to your herd. Rosie is named after Rosalind Franklin, who was the first scientist to recognize the helical shape of DNA molecules through her X-ray diffraction studies. Her work was passed on to James Watson and Francis Crick, who along with Maurice Wilkins, a coworker of Dr. Franklin, shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for reporting the discovery of the DNA double helix. Dr. Franklin's work was built into Watson and Crick's detailed description of DNA, but she has never received official credit for her contribution to the discovery, in large part because of her early passing at age 37 from cancer. Rosie gave birth in fall 2011 to a cute dark brown little girl named Ruthie out of our champion male SA Peruvian Noche Negro. She gave birth in fall 2012 to a beautifully fleeced light fawn cutie named Tatiana out of our multi-ribbon winning Mesquite's Tropical Storm. In August 2013, Rosie made it three in a row--another beautiful baby girl named CeCe, a bay black out of our own Conan's Phenomenon. Rosie’s crias are for sale under their own listings.

Service Sire: MFI Toledo

Mr. Know It All Grey!

MFI Toledo

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Toledo is the densest alpaca to ever reside on our farm. He has been the signature stud on our herdsire row for many years now. A multi champion in the show ring, Toledo is compact with excellent conformation and stunning fleece. He still maintains fantastic character at age 13! He is so dense that he sometimes doesn’t come in when it’s raining because his fleece is way too dense for him to feel the water! Toledo walks like a prince and knows his job. You can call him in from the field when it is time to breed. Toledo’s bloodlines are rare, especially in a grey alpaca. Best of all, he has sired champions. He has two champion grey sons in Colorado who are now siring champions of their own. Don’t be put off by his age--Toledo can still do his job and has many years left in his breeding career. His progeny show how relevant his genetics still are in the American herd. Toledo is an exceptional candidate for ANY farm’s herdsire row! It would be a shame for him not to be able continue to produce the stunning crias he has proven that he can sire time after time. We are looking forward to the crias out of his son Pierre, and his daughter Mayana who is now on our foundation herd. Now is your chance to acquire a truly exceptional herdsire! We call Toledo “the Ace,” and for good reason. Toledo indeed is our ace, the epitome of an exceptional, elite stud—with champion progeny, and a couple of banners himself. He has already proven that he can throw champion crias—this is well established. Toledo and his outstanding genetics are something to be cherished. We are thrilled to have Toledo's bloodlines, which are very rare east of the Mississippi, to our grey and black breeding program--and proud to be able to offer them to you! In his limited show career, Toledo competed very well. He earned blue ribbons in halter classes, and he also received an unofficial "third" place in a championship class of 47 - having been sandwiched with the renowned Bisturi as Julio Sumar was determining the Reserve Champion at GWAS 2005. (ATV Adonnis had been selected Color Champion.) In 2006, Mike Safley commented enthusiastically about his fleece at GWAS, awarding him 2nd place, with first place again going to ATV Adonnis. At the same show, Toledo was awarded grey Color Champion. Toledo is typey, with a gorgeous head and a perfect bite. His fleece character and density are OFF The Charts! The picture of his fleece shown here was at 4 years of age! Toledo’s crias include some stars: Argenta Granite (owned by Argenta Alpacas): Granite won the Grey Color Championship at the TxOLAN Alpaca Show in February 2012. Chimera’s Orion Grey (owned by Chimera Ranch): Champion at the National Western and Reserve Color Champion grey at Mid-America. Though he is a compact male, Toledo has excellent conformation and coverage (and a fine personality to boot). His fleece is absolutely stunning. He has extreme density and gorgeous crimp.

Description

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Cecelia, whom we refer to as Cece, has the potential to be a great producer. She is a joy to be in the pasture with, as she is very photogenic. Cece is always sweet and curious, but not overbearing. She always has interest in what you are doing. Her fleece is soft with nice handle and robust density. She is out of our Sweet Friday line, so she is certain to have inherited exceptional skills as a mother. With a excellent ribbon at a tough show, she has proven herself in both fleece quality and conformation. Cece is a promising young alpaca, with all the indications of being a reliable, quality female for an alpaca breeding program! Cece is a Bay Black established ribbon winner. Judge Artuna Pena adored her fleece. She features incredible softness and fineness, as well as lovely brightness. Her conformation is flawless. She is a gorgeous alpaca! She was the third consecutive female cria in three years out of farm favorite Rosie. CeCe's sire is Conan’s Phenomenon. Cece’s strong fleece qualities and excellent confirmation, as well as her show success, show off the potency of her sire. Cece has an outstanding pedigree that includes many recognizable names such as 6Peruvian Conan, Bolivian Black Thunder, Accoyo Pperuvian Felix, Accoyo Pperuvian Timoteo, Rosario, and SA Karrington. Cece is named for Cecelia Payne-Gaposchkin, a British-American astronomer and astrophysicist who, in 1925, proposed in her Ph.D. thesis an explanation for the composition of stars in terms of the relative abundances of hydrogen and helium. She then studied stars of high luminosity in order to understand the structure of the Milky Way. In 1956 she became the first woman to be promoted to full professor at Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Later, with her appointment to the Chair of the Department of Astronomy, she also became the first woman to head a department at Harvard.
