Sixth Day's Handy M
Alpaca, Huacaya, Bred (Female) | White
AOA #30610491 | DOB: 12/11/2006 (18 yrs) (Due Date: 6/30/2016)
Sire: NWA Ltd. Handsome
30610491<--ari-->White<--color-->Full Peruvian
A son of Hemingway AND a daughter of Macarena, makes him a full brother to Marcie, Hektor and Predictor. Handsome had a 16.0 micron at eight months of age and holds this fine, dense, consistant coverage today from head to toe. He is now seven years old and his average fiber diameter was still just 21 microns. In the fall of 2003 Mike and Robin Tierney showed his fleece at the Empire Alpaca Extravaganza show and at 44 months of age he won First place, Judges choice, Best hand and Color Champion.
We feel he goes beyond the chip off the old block. If you are looking for fineness and quality of fiber and perfect conformation that will hold over time, we suggest his genetics in your breeding program. It works for us!
Handsome is now back at home at Maple Brook Farm. We are looking forward to many fine crias from him, eight are already on the ground. Call us if you have any questions about using him as a herdsire.<--description-->
Dam: PPPeruvian Mercedes 4691
30610491<--ari-->White<--color-->Mercedes is another of those wonderful old females that was imported from the Rural Alianza. She is not as 'flashy' as the younger members of the herd, but has a quiet dignity all her own - and proves her worth with each new cria.
Note her import micron of 18.8! This was exceptional, but add to that the fleece wieght - in spite of the extreme fineness - of 4.7 pounds!
At 16 years of age, her micron was still respectable. The curve (a measurement of crimp and/or crinkle) of 30.5 at this age is unusually high. The exceptional handle of her fleece is shown by the low SD and a CV of 18.0!! Mercedes' fleece was free of guard hair or prominent primaries, as her histogram shows.
If you are breeding for alpacas that produce fine fleeces with exceptional handle - year after year after year - this is the kind of female you want behind your males.
Now deceased, the Sixth Day Farm herd is enriched by the genetic legacy she left behind.<--description-->

Full Alianza Female

Description
'Handy M' is a favorite member of the Sixth Day foundation herd, but offers will be considered. If you appreciate what a high-quality female with 'full' Alianza heritage can do for your herd - and for the reputation of your herdsires - you will appreciate the value of 'Handy M'!
A quality female with a fabulous fleece, Handy M is a perfect example of why the herds of the Rural Alianza co-op of Peru has been a prime resource for breeders around the world seeking stock that will produce the finest fleeces.
At five years of age, Handy M's fleece exhibits an uncommon combination of density and fineness. The handle is smooth as silk, with a bright sheen. The crimp is well-defined with about 7 crimps per inch. Check out her histogram!
Sire - NWA, LTD Handsome. An excellent son of the immortal Hemingway. Full brother to the dam of Maple Brook Bravado, NWA, Ltd Marcie. Out of PPP Macarena, the most impressive import female I ever saw. Enough said.
Dam - PPPeruvian Mercedes. Based upon their reputation and my own observation, I bought as many of the Alianza females from the 'PPP' importation as I could. Mercedes proved the wisdom of that strategy with the quality of her crias. Mercedes descendants preserve her genetic legacy. You would be wise to own one. Or more.
A rare opportunity to own a high-end breeding female with LASTING fineness, a 100% Alianza Female. How many of those are for sale?
M is located at Sixth Day Farm East in Hilton, NY
