At this price Value is just that: another bargain in high-end huacaya genes! "Genetically speaking, Value's sire and maternal grandsire are each the result of a linecross between alpacas from the Accoyo and Alianza lines. The resulting f1 was backcrossed to another Alianza line animal to produce Value's dam. Additionally, Value is also mildly linebred, with a 25% relationship by pedigree to the great Hemingway, acheived by crossing a direct Hemingway grandson to a direct Hemingway granddaughter. This means that Value has the same degree of relationship to Hemingway as if he was a direct Hemingway grandson himself, (as calculated by the average percentage of genes inherited in each generation beyond the parent generation). Linebreeding allows a breeder to retain a high degree of genetic relationship to one outstanding individual, though that ancestor may be many generations back in the pedigreee, and perhaps deceased. Additionally, linebreeding offers the opportunity to select outstanding offspring of the traget ancestor to insure that thet desired traits of the target ancestor are being preserved and maybe intensified."
