What the experts say: - Mike Safely: AOBA Senior Judge, author, & internationally known alpaca expert. When Bolero was shown for the first time ever at the NAAS in 2008, Safely said, “You don't see males this age in the showring, and you don't see males this age with fleece like this!" Praising his fineness, crimp, and DENSITY, over a class of exceptional males from 3-7 years of age - including Champions - Safely awarded Bolero the Blue at 12! - Carrie Hull, Certified Sorter/fiber grader, graded Bolero's 13th fleece on shearing day at Sixth Day Farm May 12, 2009: Grade 2 (Baby') secondaries AND primaries (!) with high scores for crimp, density, brightness, and handle. After more than a decade of managing & showing for a major farm, Carrie became a sorter. She grades thousands of fleeces each year, examining every handful. "Primaries nearly identical to the secondaries in micron and crimp..." - Jim Cocking, Low Stress Alpaca Transport & Kentucky Criations, a nationally respected breeder and alpaca transporter. When he saw Bolero in his 12th fleece on May 11th, 2008, he said, "I've hauled some of the best older males in the business all over the country, and none of them had a fleece anywhere near as nice as this!" - Carol Karsten, Hidden Hill Farm, (breeder of 2009 White Male Futurity Champion ’Dually’), asked when she saw Bolero’s 11th fleece, “What cria is this from?” She refers to Bolero as ‘unique’, and booked four females to him. NWA Ltd. Louise

HuacayaBred (Female)White
AOA# 803471DOB: 4/17/1998
Reluctantly offered... This hembra is a perfect foundation female for Sixth Day Farm. 'Foundation' means something solid to build on: a perfect description of Louise. Louise is retaining the vigor and fiber qualities we all want to see in our older alpacas. Her crimp, fiber diameter and uniformity are substantially above average, and exceptional for her age. These are the qualities that the best ot the Alianza alpacas are famous for. Sire - Hemingway is the quintessential 'impact' sire; his influence on the improvement of fiber quality in alpacas can be seen around the world. Dam - The white import, Pperuvian Analia. Her production record of 10 registered crias, with the last borm when she was estimated to be 16 years old shows that she has had the long productive life as a brood-female that we all want in our herds. Fleece - Louise's fiber exhibits the high-frequency crimp and organization to her fiber that Hemingway is known for. Like Hemingway, she also has admireable density. Check out her fiber 'stats'. Progeny include: - Franklin's Liberty, Sired by the Felix son, Accoyo Franklin. See him on our herdsire list. - Mr Liam is her son sired by Mister Maverick. - Louisiana, her 2010 cria, is outstanding. - Lure, her 2012 daughter sired by Sultan - Louie da Storm, Tempest’s ‘knockout” boy with great staple length! Hemingway is gone, so there will be no more direct daughters. Louise is located at Sixth Day Farm East in Hilton, NY.

Description

'Oh la la'! The Bueno X Hemingway cross is one that has proven, over and over, to produce outstanding results. Louisiana is carrying on that fine tradition! Ian Watt of Alpaca Consulting USA on Louisiana's skin biopsy results 2/14/12: "An exceptional female, worthy of the moniker ‘elite’... This is a top quality female showing all the characteristics that breeders look for in top herd sires. The slide photograph (showing well organized fiber bundles) says it all!" Sire - Maple Brook Bolero, like our own Maple Brook Bravado, is a son of the great Bueno. Bolero is exceptionally dense, with 'baby' grade fiber at 14!! That's LASTING fineness. Best of all, his primary fibers are virtually as fine as his secondaries - and just as crimpy! Dam - NWA Ltd Lousie has proven her worth as a broodhembre. She is the dam of our herdsire, Franklin's Liberty. True to her lineage, Louise has incredible density and to this day has a crimpy, high curvature fleece. Louisiana has the quality and pedigree to become a 'cornerstone' in the most elite breeding program. Only time will tell, but Bolero's owners believe that Louisiana has banners in her future.
