Champion in color.
Pucara Sur-Real Sumbawa
Alpaca, Suri, Herdsire (Male) | Dark Brown
AOA #32205930 | DOB: 9/14/2010 (14 yrs)
Sire: LCA Huckleberry de Latah
32205930<--ari-->Dark Brown<--color-->He is the 2012 Futurity Dark Herdsire of the Year!
The video is of Huckleberry kids Holokai and Sumbawa winning the Championsip and Reserve championship at NWAS 2011.
Our new partners Jack and Kelly Armstrong, the most knowledgable suri breeders we have ever met, now of Pure Suri Breeding Company, have been keeping this boy under wraps. Thats a long story. Suffice to say he's now here and working like a pro! He is a superb representation of superb genetics. A mahogany dark brown "Huck", as we call him, brings double Bruxo genetics in proven lines. Huck was tested by the Watts method to have the highest follicle density of any colored suri male tested to date. He also has an excellent 11.4 to 1 secondary to primary follicle ratio.
This boy exhibits luster plus, good fineness, tight uniform pencilling and as his skin biopsy testing tells us, very good density. Its on a conformationally correct frame exhibiting strong bone complimented by Huck's studly presence and regal disposition.
"Huck's" 2010/2011 production has been amazing. We should have used him more! His cria are fabulous, nearly always darker than the dam's color but always dense, glistening with luster, superbly fine. They are already winning championships.
In 2010 and 2011 he has produced several champions like Excalibur, Sumbawa, Holokai and Blue Ginger who won Futurity Championships.

Dam: Pucara Sonata
32205930<--ari-->Medium Brown<--color-->
That is Sonata's 2010 male cria by Huckleberry winning the NWAS Dark male championship in 2011 in the Youtube video.
Sonata has had a string of top quality cria, all making our show team. Her latest in this video, Pucara Sur-real Sumbawa will be used here at Pucara as a stud male. He is everything we could wish for in a colored suri male! Although we are selling an interest in him at our PPR sale 2011, October 15 & 16.
Well, this could be a sad day. Sonata is at the head of a regal line of Pucara colored suris. When we first imported her we had several offers from discerning suri breeders...Mike Wilkins are you listening to me !!!....to purchase her but we held firm. Now that she has set her legacy here at the Muddy Valley Pucara Farm we decided in the name of financing our passion that we will let another suri breeder enjoy their own legacy with her.
Here is not the place to rave about her fiber, she is nearly ten years old, but to rave about her production from Durango daughters like Pucara Sur-Real Sonnet to show winners like Pucara Manzanillo. Her 2010 son Sumbawa by LCA Huckleberry is phenomenal. He will be a key in our color breeding program. He has won a championship as a juvie already and will feature in our 2012 show team and will be reserved as a colored stud male.
Sonata's father is a Uribe son, NGG Bentley, out of the stud dam at Castle Hill farms, Pperuvian Amadora. Her mother Pucara Rhapsodie has been a fantastic dam for us, you can see her influence right through last years PPR auction and Pen Reserve sale . Rhapsodie's Durango son, Pucara Rapper won the 2007 national AOBA Brown male championship.
You can see Sonata's latest Chakotah daughter Hip Hop on this sales list.
Sonata was bred to Chakotah of CCR Suris who won first ribbon at the 2011 AOBA Nationals and GWAS for his Get class and was a multiple champion himself. Chakotah also had a five times 2011 judges choice son, Pucara Chakotah's Wyuna. A daughter Buzznhumm Layla al<--description-->

So why is it people in this industry just can't get past the fact that we breed for color as much as we do for white. We have had colored National Champions since 2007!!! What's with that???
So anyway Sumbawa here happens to be a relative of that colored National champ back then! This boy is everything we dreamed about in color. His sire Huckleberry, the 2012 Futurity dark Herdsire of the Year, has been a revelation for us in dark color. Huck as we call him is a double Bruxo son who we campaign for Jack and Kelly Armstrong of the Latah Creek fame before the herd was sold to the Brearley's in WA. In only his first year of production for us Huck has had an incredible impact producing champions and ribbon winners. Sumbawa's dam, Pucara Sonata, is our favorite colored female and produces beautiful ribbon winning cria.
In the attached video you can see Sumbawa along with Holokai another Huckleberry kid who took Dark Male Reserve Championship to him at the NWAS show 2011.
Sumbawa like his siblings shows off an incredible amount of greasy lustrous fleece for such a fine micron. As a yearling he did very well in the show ring but more importantly for us we're waiting anxiously for him to get his breeding started in 2013 because his genetics both sides of the equation make sense that he will be an impact stud for us.
Sumbawa is growing out splendidly now. He was small as a juvie due to the tremendous amount of fleece he was carrying but now he displays a robust square frame, solid bone and a stunning head. All black points! You'll notice by his show results that as he grew he achieved better results.
We're very proud of this boy who we believe will go on to become a very important herdsire for us our our clients that choose discerningly to use the best. As an indicator his EPD's show a lot of potential.
