When we first started our alpaca farm here in the US the first sale we made of our own suris was to Ann and Bill Rogers at CCR Alpacas.
We asked Ann and Bill if they would let us know when one of those girl's, Kalina, had her cria and we would consider purchasing it. As it turned out they decided to send Kalina along with several of our own females to be bred to Moon River's Durango. Jude and I adored this boy. He was a stand out in the show ring but more importantly to us he had exquisite genetics. Those breedings produced two national Champions for us and several ribbon winners.
When Kalina gave birth Ann excitedly called us and raved about the cria. Well we know owners get a bit barn blind about their animals so we asked for pics....man oh man, he looked fabulous. We visited CCR Alpacas soon thereafter and purchased a half share of this boy, Chakotah....at two months of age!!! Its insane, the first time we have been so bold but in the flesh he even looked better than the pics.
The Kahuna daighter, Kalina, had produced a knockout cria.
His performance of course in the show ring has been exemplorary under very good suri judges. He exhibits extreme greasy luster, super silky handle, density in thick well defined locks from one end of his sturdy frame to the other and fineness. All with a proud masculine head on a well balanced body.
Was this to be expected from the intial breeding. We hoped so because it was the marriage of genetics from Peruvian Bruxo, Peruvian Uribe, Peruvian Augustina (McGyver's mom), Pperuvian Amador and Peruvian Cadete (Accoyo foundation herdsires of our female herd), Pucara Kahuna and Pucara Allegro who had 37 championship winning cria in Australia of which 17 won Best in Show! The odds were stacked in our favor and are now stacked in yours because there is little room for deviation of outcome with this punch of prepotence. If you have a good female you'll get a great cria with this b<--description-->
Dam: Pucara Sonata
32014396<--ari-->Medium Brown<--color-->LOT 2 PPR SALE 2011
That is Sonata's 2010 male cria by Huckleberry winning the NWAS Dark male championship in 2011 in the Youtube video.
Sonata has had a string of top quality cria, all making our show team. Her latest in this video, Pucara Sur-real Sumbawa will be used here at Pucara as a stud male. He is everything we could wish for in a colored suri male! Although we are selling an interest in him at our PPR sale 2011, October 15 & 16.
Well, this could be a sad day. Sonata is at the head of a regal line of Pucara colored suris. When we first imported her we had several offers from discerning suri breeders...Mike Wilkins are you listening to me !!!....to purchase her but we held firm. Now that she has set her legacy here at the Muddy Valley Pucara Farm we decided in the name of financing our passion that we will let another suri breeder enjoy their own legacy with her.
Here is not the place to rave about her fiber, she is nearly ten years old, but to rave about her production from Durango daughters like Pucara Sur-Real Sonnet to show winners like Pucara Manzanillo. Her 2010 son Sumbawa by LCA Huckleberry is phenomenal. He will be a key in our color breeding program. He has won a championship as a juvie already and will feature in our 2012 show team and will be reserved as a colored stud male.
Sonata's father is a Uribe son, NGG Bentley, out of the stud dam at Castle Hill farms, Pperuvian Amadora. Her mother Pucara Rhapsodie has been a fantastic dam for us, you can see her influence right through last years PPR auction and Pen Reserve sale . Rhapsodie's Durango son, Pucara Rapper won the 2007 national AOBA Brown male championship.
You can see Sonata's latest Chakotah daughter Hip Hop on this sales list.
Sonata was bred to Chakotah of CCR Suris who won first ribbon at the 2011 AOBA Nationals and GWAS for his Get class and was a multiple champion himself. Chakotah also had a five times 2011 judges choice son, Pucara Chakotah's Wyuna. A daughter<--description-->
Service Sire: 90 Proof of Castle Pines
90 Proof of Castle Pines is the result of breeding our girl Twist-N-Shout to Sierra Bonita's Sirius Black. With Sirius Black being a former National Black Color Champion, our hopes for something special were realized when this true black boy arrived. He's had a great overall look and presence from day one. His first year potential in the showring was cut short due to an unfortunate tender fleece condition. At the 2009 Great Western Alpaca Show (largest show in the country) the judge was so impressed with his other characteristics, he awarded him 2nd place in class. The judge thought long and hard in trying to decide between the first and second place animals. He said the only thing keeping "90 Proof" out of the top spot was his tender fleece condition. Although he had limited competition in the shorn classes in 2010, he took first in class at all four shows he competed in (AOBA, Futurity, CABA and Northwest Alpaca Showcase). His full sister, "Cassis of Castle Pines" recently took a Reserve Championship at the 2011 Great Wester Alpaca Show, and did it from a shorn class. This boy has the tools to become something special. He caught the eye of Al Cousill and Jude Anderson at Pucara International, where he currently resides and is beginning his breeding career. His first offspring are hitting the ground and are very impressive. He can also be viewed on their website at http://www.pucara-alpacas.com/90proof.html. Please contact Pucara International for breeding information.

Description
This is a steal. Hip Hop is the daughter of our best, our very best, colored female Pucara Sonata who we could have sold a hundred times but we waited until we had two daughters. Hip Hop is also the daughter of our now famous Chakotah who besides several championships in his own show career has won Get Of Sire at GWAS , Txolan, and the Nationals in 2011 with Kahuna his grand sire coming second! He was also Futurity Dark Herdsire of the Year in 2011.
The dam, Pucara Sonata, is a dark mahogany colored girl from Uribe line who we bred to Chakotah (LB) and got Hip Hop, a creamy beige/white!!!
Now Hip Hop was not shown in 2010 because we campaigned all our Kahuna whites! Hip Hop would have made show teams all over the country. She is a well put together suri on a stellar frame with a gorgeous head. When you open her fleece you get the quality that Uribe, Bruxo and Kahuna represent with a dense greasy handling fleece with independent lock and that cool, slick handle.
HER breeding to Huckleberry in 2011 produced a quality light brown male. He is destined for the show ring.
We bred her to the black boy we are campaigning, 90 Proof, a stand out, striking looking jet back male in the MacGyver line for an august 2013 cria.
