We are very excited about the offspring hitting the ground from our full Accoyo beige son of El Nino (Caligula's best son), who had a 16.3 micron fleece at one year! Dr. Norman Evans did a skin biopsy in the fall of 2005, and according to his results, Michelangelo's density is absolutely unmatched (S/P Ratio of 13.28/1 and follicle density an amazing 107 follicles per sq/mm)! One of the softest AND densest fleeces I've ever had the pleasure to touch! Multiple champion and blue ribbon winner in fleece and halter! Michelangelo had confirmed pregnancies at 22 months, and to date has many healthy CHAMPION offspring on the ground (including ROSE GREY, SILVER GREY, medium brown, light fawn, beige and white! His offspring took blues in both juvenile white male AND female classes at AOBA Nationals, and a grey took a blue at the Futurity! Judge Kevin O'Leary commented that a white Michelangelo offspring he judged at AOBA had "the finest fleece he'd had in his ring all day! Herdsire discounts from SSF do not apply to Michelangelo breedings. We will begin booking a few limited outside breedings for 2008.

Description

Merlin's story is amazing but before we talk about that we need to comment about the quality of this exceptional male. Merlin is currently in heavy use for breedings to our herd. He has a perfect head with a helmet-head topknot, dense, fine and extremely uniform blanket fleece with uniform crimp structure well into his belly, legs, neck and tail. He is the male everyone who visits us asks about and we are thrilled that he is now producing for our program. Merlin was born in early winter on one of the coldest days of the year and was born at 10 months gestation and very immature. His legs bent every direction at the knee joint as his joints were not fully developed. His body temp quickly dropped to 98 degrees and he would not dring and did not have the strength to stand. We tried to warm him, unsuccessfully and he was showing signs of complete failure. Next morning I went into the barn expecting to see that we had lost him and to my surprise he was fighting to his feet and pushing under mom to nurse. In our 16 years with alpacas we had never seen a cria in this condition fully recover so we knew right away there was something special about him. Merlin has terrific genetics including Caligula, Legacy, Snowmass Perfection, Snowmass Wedding Pacabells, Don Julio, Pachelbel, Sunipani, Snowbells, El Nino, and the famous Michelangelo who we owned for many years. It all came together in this outstanding male. In his first and only show he was a DOUBLE CHAMPION, color champion white male halter and color champion white fleece. He is now ready to add these genetics to your herd.
