Ren Farms' Joe Louis

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Brown
AOA# 31022637DOB: 5/27/200717 yrs
The 3 lowest micron females on our farm are out of Ren Farms' Joe Louis! Not only that, but at the age of 7 years, he is still holding a 21.5 micron baby grade fleece! His offspring routinely have micron in the 16's-18's, and SD's in the 2's-3's. Many whites can't match that! As a full Peruvian herdsire, Joe is throwing top quality black, fawn & white crias! He is one of those rare dark sires that you can safely take to white girls to try for color, without fearing for loss of quality if the resulting cria is white! Joe is the complete package! "Best handle in the class, best fineness in the class, best density in the class...he has that high frequency crimp that is usually associated with fineness, and that I just don't want to let go of," said Judge Mary Reed in awarding Joe Louis the first place ribbon and Reserve color championship at the 2008 Huron Spring Alpaca Show. We heard similar reviews about this boy throughout his show career. Joe has amazing fineness, density and terrific crimp with an incredible 11 crimps/inch frequency. He has a very uniformly consistent & extremely soft handle. His conformation is flawless, with large-sized bone and perfect proportion. Joe's traits are inherited from his blue-ribbon winning dark brown dam, Anais, who still held a 23 micron (baby grade) at age 11. A very impressive 6 out of 8 of Anais's offspring have won Championships, demonstrating her pre-potency! Joe is passing that long held low micron gene on to his offspring, who are consistently having a dramatic fineness of fleece! Further, he is also passing on his large-boned perfect conformation. Dam: Alta Luna's Zola

Bueno Daughter

Alta Luna's Zola

HuacayaOpen (Female)White, True Black
AOA# 137253DOB: 2/6/1995
Zola is a daughter of the nationally acclaimed herdsire, Peruvian Bueno. She has a sturdy frame, with good bone structure. In 2004 we bred her to Pinti, an award-winning grey herdsire. The terrific result was her 2005 cria, Blushing Rose, a beautiful ribbon-winning medium silver grey girl, who has won ribbons in Level 5 shows. Zola was re-bred to the award winning Absolut, and in June of 2007 presented us with Pulsera, a beautiful black girl with white bracelets on her front ankles. Once again Zola's father (Bueno) has made his presence felt as little 'Sera has well defined crimp, density & staple length, along with wonderful brightness. She has become another of our ribbon winning animals. In December of 2008, we attempted to go for another grey girl by re-breeding her to Pinti. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, we got a blue-eyed white female cria. As a blue-eyed white female from a grey parent has strong potential to produce grey, we will add her strengths to our breeding program, taking her to solid black males with strong black backgrounds, and the likely results will be high quality grey or black crias. In 2010 she's produced a lovely fawn girl out of our med. brown reserve champion, Renfarms' Joe Louis, a 20 ribbon winner! Joe carries elite traits in every category, and has large bone and superb conformation to boot! He comes from a dark brown dam noted for her long held fineness (23.0 micron at age 10!). Zola is a wonderful mom both in her strong milk production and in her behavior and has had very easy & quick birthings for us. Being an older girl, whom we purchased at the age of 11, we are not offering Zola for sale. She will live out her days here at our farm.

Description

Ren Farm's Hera's Storm is a light fawn girl out of our black female, Alta Luna's Zola, a Peruvian Bueno daughter. Her sire is our own reserve Champion and 20-ribbon winner, Ren Farm's Joe Louis. Hera's first annual shearing produced an wonderfully low AFD of 17.8, with a SD of 3.7, and only 0.8% >30 microns. Her second shearing was equally impressive, with an AFD of 17.3, SD of 4.2 and only 0.5% >30 microns. And guess what - she did it again with her 3rd shearing (See below left micron results!) This vast improvement over her dam's micron was no doubt a benefit derived from her sire, Ren Farms' Joe Louis, who has driven down the cria's micron from the dam's micron on every breeding we've done with him. This very low micron is also likely to be retained by her over time, as her paternal grandmother, our foundation female, Anais, is a dark brown girl who still produced a 23.0 AFD micron fleece at the age of ten! Hera's dam, Zola, has produced several ribbon-winning cria for us! Although, she has a wonderfully soft fleece, the uniformity in crimp architecture that we like to see in our top of the line breeding stock is not present in Hera. She also has more straight primaries than is acceptable for our breeding program. She will need to be bred to males with a strong crimp architecture & reduced straight primaries, and the resulting cria will likely be something impressive, indeed! Her $250 price includes 1 free breeding to your choice of our superb herdsires, any of whom would provide the improved crimp structure and reduction of straight primaries that Hera needs assistance on in producing superior crias.
