Our best in Brown
Challanger's Ebony Gold
Alpaca, Huacaya, Open (Female) | Dark Brown
AOA #31419291 | DOB: 4/19/2010 (14 yrs)
Sire: Snowmass Royal Challanger
Light Fawn<--color-->"RC" needs no introduction. Co-owned by Snowmass and Tripping Gnome, this male has produced some of the best offspring we've laid eyes and hands on. Snowmass Royal Challenger, the 2004 Futurity Color Champion, has proven himself by producing the next generation of elite colored huacaya alpacas. Son of Snowmass Royal Rose, one of the top Studs from the North American Alpaca Stud Group, Royal Challenger hails from a long line of “greats” including Hemingway and Bueno. Challenger’s dam, PPPeruvian Edelweis is a grand dam in her own right- a long time producer of champions. Royal Challenger consistently passes on his superior phenotype and fleece attributes to his offspring - superb conformation, awesome coverage, fineness, high-frequency style crimp, long staple length and beautiful brightness.<--description-->
Dam: TGF Olympic Sky
31419291<--ari-->Medium Brown<--color-->Update: Sky is being sold as a Pet only. During a veterinary procedure in 2011 her cervix was torn, ending the possibility for further offspring. At the time this was a pretty devastating loss for our farm. With our herd size growing, we are needing to make some sacrifices on moving some animals along. Sky is very special to us, so we will only sell her after a visit to her new owners farm. We will need to be assured she is going to a great place.
2008 AOBA National Show auction- our first auction and one of the most memorable for us. That was not only our first auction, but the first show we had ever entered. When "Sky" came up in the auction we had no idea who Ryen and Ursula Munro were, but even as new breeders we definitely knew who Snowmass Legacy Gold was. We couldn't believe it when the final gavel called out our name as Sky's new owners. We knew she would be a key piece to our successful colored breeding program, and she has not disappointed! In the show ring as a yearling, she took 2nd in her class at AWE and was then awarded the Reserve Color Champion behind Cresent Moon. Wade Gease commented "this female has maintained superior fineness, even against much younger competition". Sky has begun her breeding career and her first cria, a stunning brown female sired by Snowmass Royal Challanger, has made it clear to us she intends on stamping her traits to her cria. This little girl not only has "the look", but she's carrying a very fine, very consistent, and very expressive fleece. We named her "Challanger's Ebony Gold", and she'll be a part of our 2011 show string. For her second breeding, we chose Snowmass XXXtreme. This is a line-breed, but one we felt comfortable making to reinforce the strong genetics of Hemingway.

Description
Sometimes words cannot describe an animal well enough. Wow, stunning, spectacular are all words we would use to describe Ebony Gold. When you break it all down, she is well worth any price we could put on her...
Lineage- We were fortunate enough to buy her dam, TGF Olympic Sky, from Ryen and Ursula Munro at the 2008 AOBA show. After completing a great show career, we were then lucky enough to breed her to Snowmass Royal Challanger. Combining the lines of Legacy Gold and Royal Challanger were not only exciting, but proven by Tripping Gnome.
Show record- Judges Helen Humphreys, Wade Gease, and Tim Lavan all commented the same- incredible coverage, holding excellent fineness, compact, stout frame, excellent character to her fleece. The high placing ribbons Ebony received were a reflection of those comments.
Fiber- Ebony's 2nd year histogram results confirmed what we were feeling- lingering fineness. Both her dam and her sire demonstrated these same qualities well into age. Also take note of the low percentage of fibers over 30%- not bad at all for a dark color.
Ebony is confirmed pregnant to Patagonia's Antonio. A multi-champion and well respected stud, we can't wait to see what these two produce!
The astute breeder that elects to purchase Ebony will not only be obtaining our best Brown female, but will be rewarded with a confirmed breeding to Patagonia's Antonio- a mulit-champion powerhouse.
