MacGyver's Balboa

SuriHerdsire (Male)Bay Black
AOA# 1049121DOB: 7/31/200519 yrs
There are few alpaca herd sires in the same league as MacGyver’s Balboa. He is co-owned by Park View All American Alpacas in Oregon and Victoria Lane Alpacas in Ohio. During the course of his show career Balboa racked up 16 Halter Championships-- 13 Color Championships and 3 Reserve Championships. And his fleece won a few awards too. At the MAPACA 2008 Fleece competition, Balboa’s fleece was awarded a First Place and Best Suri Locks. Then at the 2008 AOBA National Fleece Show, Balboa was awarded First Place and Reserve Color Championship. His fleece also received a Special Award at Nationals for Best Suri Locks. Balboa’s offspring have accrued more than 25 championships among them to date! Though he is true black, Balboa specializes in both light and dark colored offspring, and both do equally well in the show ring. Thus it is at the 2011 Futurity, he was named both Dark Herd Sire of the Year and Reserve Light Herd Sire of the Year. Included on the light side of the family, from Park View Alpacas, are: Lucieno of PVA, 2011 AOBA National Show Reserve Color Champion; the divine Imperial Princess of PVA, 2011 IAO Supreme Color Champion, 2011 CABA Color Champion, and 2011 Futurity Res Color Champion; Balboa’s Fanfare of PVA, the 2011 IAO Color Champion; Chablis of PVA: 2010 GWAS Res. Color Champion, and 2011 IAO Best Head; and blue-ribbon-winning and future color champion Chardonnay of PVA: 1st 2011 AOBA National Show, 1st 2011 Futurity, 1st 2011 GWAS, and 2011 IAO Best Head. But wait, Balboa makes dark Color Champions as well! These include, again from Park View Alpacas: Bejeweled of PVA, 2011 AOBA National Show Reserve Color Champion; Nataliah of PVA, half-sister of PVA Mahogany Prince and 2011 AOBA National Show Color Champion; Chanterelle of PVA, 2011 Futurity Color Champion and 2011 AOBA National Show Reserve Color Champion; Fawnessa of PVA, 2011 IAO Color Champion; and the immortal, memorable Testaverde of PVA: 2011 Color Champion at the IAO, the CABA Classic, the AOBA National Show, and 2010 Futurity Color Champion. Balboa has also sired some champions for Victoria Lane Alpacas. His first offspring to hit the ground, Balboa’s Adrienne, won 3 Reserve Championships during her show career. Then Adrienne’s full sister, Balboa’s Lexi, came along and also took 3 Reserve Championships—FABA 2011, Best of US 2011, and CABO 2011. In addition to these accomplishments, Balboa is just plain an all-around great guy. He’s friendly and intelligent, easy to handle, comes when he’s called, doesn’t cause problems with other males, and treats his ladies with dignity. UPDATE: NEW CO-OWNERS M&M ALPACAS OF NORTH CAROLINA

MINUET OF PVA

SuriOpen (Female)Medium Brown
AOA# 1171457DOB: 6/30/200519 yrs
Minuet is as kind and gentle as a butterfly—she approaches you quietly with a soft expression in her eye, just to hear you say “Good morning,” and her name. She likes to watch you as you work, and put down food. She is never rude, and prefers not to jostle with the others. The others may not care, but Minuet seems to notice whether or not you have cleaned the grain feeders, and you can see the approval and appreciation in her eyes. Minuet's sire is Keanu of PVA. Keanu is a son of PVA Mahogany Prince, and a second generation Color Champion-- in 2001 he was a Color Champion at both the Futurity and the AOBA National Show. Through Keanu, Minuet is a sister to Primo of PVA, the 2008 IAO Supreme Color Champion; Chanel of PVA, the 2008 AWE and AOBA National Show Color Champion; and Aviano of PVA, the 2012 Alpaca Breeder's Invitational Color Champion. Minuet's dam was DPA Minnie (Ricardo x PPPeruvian Minuet), a lovely and prolific foundation female that Park View Alpacas was proud to own. During her breeding career, Minnie was most frequently bred to Keanu. Minuet's full siblings include Masterlock of PVa (Reserve Color Champion 2007 Monterey Pronk) and Minerva of PVa (2009 AOBA Nationals Color Champion). Her half sister is Miramonte of PVA (a Mahogany Prince daughter), who is also a valued foundation female here at Park View. Minuet has a respectable show career to her credit, and three daughters who have been following in their mother’s footsteps. The first, Miura, by Diamonte of PVA, was born in 2008. Michellina (2009) and Silver Mist (2010) are by Balboa. Minuet bore Black Monarch, a true black male by Balboa in 2011. She is an excellent mother who imparts good lessons in being an alpaca to her offspring. We will be breeding her to Chakotah's Wyuna for a 2014 cria. This girl is a pleasure to have around. We love having her at PVA, but think it likely that you would love her, too!

Description

PVA’s Silver Mist takes her name from the silver hairs that delicately twine themselves through her midnight black fleece like honeysuckle weaving itself through a trellis. Her fleece is richly colored, fine and lustrous and well-locked, with good coverage. Her expression is sweet and her temperament is mild. In manner she is just like her mother, Minuet, the kindliest alpaca that Park View has ever known. Mother and daughter loved to hang around watching people do chores and benefit alpacas through their labors. Silver Mist’s dam, Minuet, also produced Miura of PVA, a 2010 Reserve Color Champion at the IAO. Silver Mist garnered 5 blue ribbons during the 2012 show season, one for almost every show she was entered in, including the IAO, Futurity, and the AOBA National Show. She also won a Grey Suri Female Color Championship at the 2012 IAO. Minuet of PVA is out of foundation female DPA Minnie and by Keanu of PVA. Through her dam Minuet is the half-sister of foundation female Miramonte of PVA, and a full sister to Minerva of PVA (2009 AOBA National Color Champion) and Minnehaha of PVA (2nd place 2010 IAO). Keanu is one of Park View’s grand old herd sires, known for passing along to his offspring a fine shimmering luster and lengthy well-defined locks. A son of Mahogany Prince, Keanu was both Futurity Color Champion and AOBA National Color Champion in 2001. He has consistently produced incredible champion offspring, including IAO Supreme Color Champion Primo of PVA and also Chanel of PVA, the 2008 AWE and National Color Champion. Silver Mist’s sire is MacGyver’s Balboa. Balboa has seldom disappointed anyone who has bred to him. During the course of his show career, Balboa racked up more than 17 blue ribbons and championship banners. In 2011 he was named Dark Herd Sire of the Year and Reserve Light Herd Sire of the Year, thanks to the exploits of his numerous and lustrous offspring. In 2012 Balboa attained Reserve Dark Herd Sire of the Year. Through her sire, Silver Mist is a half-sister to Testaverde of PVA (multiple-times Color Champion in 2011), Balboa’s Midnight Fancy (2012 CABA Classic Color Champion Female Suri), and to Tahitian Black Pearl, who won 4 Color and Reserve Color championships in 2012. Silver Mist is expecting her first cria by 2011 IAO Supreme Champion Chakotah’s Wyuna.
