Athena arrived during the summer Olympics in Athens - and we think she's a gold medal winner! She has beautiful, dense silver grey fiber with a soft, luxurious hand. Athena's heritage is primarily silver gray.
Focusing on her silver grey heritage from both her dam and sire, we had hoped to see silver crias - and we were not disappointed when we discovered her first cria up and running in the paddock - AND dark silver grey with a dark star on his handsome white face. Sterling Star arrived on day 341, at almost 17 pounds, and with an IGG of almost 3000.
Athena delivered with no assistance, and has shown strong maternal instincts. She had plenty of milk right away, and carefully watches her cria. Her 2010 cria is very typey fawn male with grey features around his face. Humphrey (Bogart) is carrying good density and character as well as a nice soft handle on a well conformed compact frame.
Athena was bred to a silver grey champion named Samson, owned by our friends Sue King, of Skyeview Alpacas and Kilblaan Farm Alpacas. If you are interested in grey genetics Athena has produced gray offspring in 3 out of 4 crias on the ground. Her yearling male has beautiful fiber and has won a reserve championship at the green mountain show in 2012. He has been sold to Silver Street Farm congratulations to Heather and David Lynch for their purchase of Barron Hill's Richard Gere.
Athena will be bred to our multi Champion Romeo spring of 2018
