son of 10x champion Peruvian Zephyrus
Ark's Zephyriah
HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Bay Black
AOA# 20009168DOB: 7/5/200519 yrs
Bay Black/Black (color checked both bay black and black at shows in 2006) son of 10 times color champion, Zephyrus (The Cria Barn at Cranberry Creek, Ohio and Sunset Hills Alpacas, Pennsylvania), this outstanding young male did well in the show ring in 2006, never placing out of the ribbons and winning a blue at the GMAF, Madison, WI. and IAOBA, Peoria, IL.
This male has very dense, very fine, crimpy fiber with high frequency crimp. The fiber analysis of a randomly selected sample gave him a 17.7 mean fiber diameter! His very dark color is in contrast to his fawn sire.
Recent skin biopsy done by Dr. Norm Evans shows a density of 61.25 follicles per SQ MM and an SP ratio of 12:1. This places Zephyriah well above the average alpaca which Dr. Evans reports as 39.75 follicles per SQ MM and ratio of 8.75:1.
Oak Lawn Alpacas are pleased to co-own this award winning herdsire with Jim and Linda Stark from Alpacas of the Ark.
Zephyriah has 27 offspring on the ground and in 24 of those 27; the cria was as dark as the dam or darker including true black Ark’s Zephyriah’s Myriah who took Reserve Color Champ at 2009 IAOBA. Zephyriah cria's have Zeph's distinct head shape and straight strong legs with excellent bone. Offspring that have been in the show ring always are noted for their oustanding presence. At Age 8. Zeph still had a 25 micron! Pretty outstanding for black.
