We were very pleased to purchase Coalatina at the 2006 Spring Fling and add her to our foundation herd. As her name suggests, Coalatina is a true black beauty; she is as black as coal with a fleece that has supreme brightness and a soft, butter-like handle with crimp, crimp, crimp! Add to that her beautiful conformation and you’ve got the total black package. Coalatina comes from great blue ribbon genetics on both sides. Her sire, Kenamori Gold has himself won and produced countless show ring winners. He was a perfect selection to pair with Coalatina’s dam, true black Norah, a blue ribbon winner herself.
Coalatina won a 2nd place in a large (14), competitive class at the 2006 MaPACA show. Her unskirted fleece won a 4th place in another large class at the AFCNA 2006 fleece show.
Coalatia took a 3rd place in the TB yearling female class at the 2007 North American show. She was bested by the eventual Black Color and Reserve Champions. It was a tough class and not bad competition to follow. Judge Jude Anderson commented on Coalatina's density, crimp, brightness and handle as well as correct conformation.
Coalatina again took 2nd at the highly competitive 2007 MAPACA show! Judge Kevin O'Leary commented on her density, consistancy, handle, crimp and brightness.
Coalatina was bred in late 2007 to the spectacular Snowmass Nova, who sold for $325,000 at the 2006 Making of Champions Private Selection Sale. The resulting female cria, Nova's AuSable Trick or Treat, is a marvelous true black with great fleece on a well conformed little body. She's been a real pistol from the start! Can't wait to show her next year.
Coal is now bred to our 6x Champ and OABA Get of Sire winner, Peruvian Lancaster for what we expect will be another high end offspring.
