True Density

Yuma of Long Hollow - Deceased

SuriMaleMedium Brown
AOA# 1191189DOB: 9/22/200519 yrs
Take a look at his offspring's history and you will see why we loosing our Yuma in September 2019 was so difficult. This is a very dense yet very soft fleeced male. He is one of our last 2 breedings with PPeruvian Angel before he died. This is the kind of fleece that you have to dig through to get to the skin. But when you do there's the luster you are looking for. "Yuma" stands for "Chief's son" and he has the same solid bone and build of his sire. His dam is Alpha (a Papacito/Penelope offspring) Which makes Yuma full Peruvian, 1/4 Accoyo. Alpha is a half sister to Admiral's Commander. We have bred Yuma to our MacGuyver girls since he is totally unrelated. He passes on the body & the fiber that got him a 1st at AOBA & 1st at the Futurity.

Dam:

Retired 1st LHSA cria. Graceful Posture

Jarusha - Deceased

SuriOpen (Female)Dark Brown
AOA# 847010DOB: 7/6/200321 yrs
Jarusha was the first cria born on the farm. Her dam, Empresaria, was the matriarch of our original herd. Empresaria was medium fawn and Jarusha's herd sire, Luminoso was white. We certainly didn't expect a dark brown cria from that breeding. Over the years since Jarusha's birth, we have learned a great deal about the genetics surrounding fiber color and quality! Her SHIP score was 4.5/5 for her fineness and 5/5 for her Suri style! Jarusha's first show, was in fact our first time showing. Imagine our surprise to bring home a blue ribbon! Jarusha won FIRST in a class of NINE at the 2004 Southern Select. Jarusha is a proven female with 4 crias sired by FG Shaka and Yuma of Long Hollow. All of her crias showed well, with the exception of Phaedra who died unexpectedly from an accident at a young age. Jarusha is our tall, majestic female. She shows of her Peruvian traits with grace. Her dark color and posture often catches the eye of our visitors. She is stoic and always aware of her herd. She inherited her dam's matriarch personality! Today, Jarusha is enjoying a quiet life on our farm. She is often the first to lead her herd out to the pasture. She prefers to cush in her favorite shady areas, but remains active & inquisitive with the crias. It is our goal to maintain the quality of life of those who spend their retirement years at LHSA, and we monitor the weight and health of our seniors closely.

Description

Yancy has fine penciled locks, a very straight conformation, great presence, suri style, and a great suri head. Some of our farm visitors have even commented on his positive attributes of head, handle and solid bone. Yancy averages 175 pounds and is haltered trained, easy to catch, and friendly. He does not show dominate personality traits toward his herd. Yancy accepts new alpacas and a change of pastures very well. He would be a positive addition to any large or small farm. Yancy’s sire is none other than our own Yuma of Long Hollow, who won 1st place at the 2006 Futurity and the 2007 AOBA Nationals!!! Yancy’s dam is our Jarusha, who is out of Woods Edge Accoyo Baron’s Luminoso! Yancy's density is 32.5 follicles /sq. mm, with a S/P of 8.8. His secondary fibers average 25.1 micron with primaries at 38.5 micron. Yancy's AFD is 26.4 and his fiber shear weight averages between 3-4 pounds. Yancy S.H.I.P score was 4/5. A word about the health practices at Long Hollow Suri Alpacas… We take the health of our herd seriously. • All alpacas are vaccinated annually, and bred females are vaccinated 30-60 days prior to birth of their cria. • Fecal flotations are performed on EACH individual alpaca monthly and treatment is completed on a per alpaca basis. • All alpacas receive monthly injections as a precaution against meningeal worm. • Bred females receive a minimum of 1 ultrasounds performed onsite by a veterinarian and our veterinary technician. We interact daily with all our animals to ensure any medical needs are addressed as needed and this improves their socialization.
