Proudly Co-Owned with Rancho Chico Alpacas Diamond is a very rare alpaca, with two full Peruvian colored parents, both carrying fine genes, and retaining their fineness into late adulthood. His crias have nearly all been dark, all have been under 20 microns, with typey heads, and those entering the ring are taking home ribbons. My visit to Rancho Chico to see the crias was what sold me on Diamond. I would tell you to come here to see some crias, but every female I have bred him to . . . has sold. Last year, I returned home with Pandora, a beautiful black daughter from a pick of the litter off the farm. And this year, look at our 2012 cria, Onyx and Mocha! His son Hermoso, shown, took 4th in AOBA composite class, and can be seen at Rancho Chico. Rancho Chico is retiring, and their half interest is for sale. A fantastic option for Snowmass genetics, for dark fine fiber that persists for years, for typey heads and square compact bodies, for darker offspring than the dam that improve in one generation in both conformation and fiber, with intellect and personality.

LZD Jewel

HuacayaOpen (Female)White
AOA# 823709DOB: 10/6/200024 yrs
An award-winning full Peruvian, and the only white offspring of 5Peruvian Chinchero, a true black herdsire imported from the Maychapampa herd in Peru, Jewel is no ordinary white alpaca! Her dam, Marcela, produced the famous grey herdsire Silver Dollar, and the well respected fawn herdsire, Show Me the Money. Jewel's pedigree literally sparkles with quality and color. She has full coverage, great density and, according to show judge Mary Reed, "her handle is like butter it's so soft". A fine foundation female with heavy bone, excellent conformation, who is an easy birther and devoted mother, Jewel has given us six wonderful crias, light and dark but always with fabulous fleece. Her last cria, a bright white female was sired by A.L. Paca's Exclusivo, a champion medium brown. Her breeding days are now over but her fleece is still surprisingly nice. The oldest alpaca on our farm who has given us 6 gorgeous crias of all colors, Jewel is cherished and will live out her life with us. Retired, with grace.

Description

We knew we had a winner the first time we checked out Dustin's fleece. Soft, dark, bundly fiber. You cannot even distinguish the primaries from the secondaries in his fleece. He is the product of our incomparable foundation dam LZD Jewel, the only white offspring of black Chinchero and Marcela. Dustin's sire is Snowmass Black Diamond, a bay black with amazing fleece and calm disposition. Judge described his fleece as by far the nicest in the class. See his histogram from OFDA 2000 testing: it's not everyday you see a Comfort Factor of 100%!
