Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. Description

16.6µ at 1 year, 20.7µ at 5 years! He did it again, testing at 20.9µ at 6 years, in 2010! And yes, once again, testing 21.6µ in 2011 at 7 years old. And, don't you know. 20.3µ at 8 years. Do you want low micron and uniformity, and color? I could hardly be more pleased with the way he's maintaining the fineness and uniformity. Check out his CV, SD, and % over 30µ for all years. And ALL of his fleece is usable. I made a wet felted scarf from his 6th year leg hair, and it is as soft as his blanket and neck fleece. The only working Avatar son in Oregon! Lowest micron of all I've seen (at least for the first 4 or 5 years), as well. His sire, Avatar, is a multiple Color Champion. Scirocco's fleece has the same crimp and character that his sire's has... and only 16.6 microns! Scirocco's half sister Amelia Braveheart, is the dam of Delphi's Devamani and Ava. Of course Deva and Ava's sire is Avatar. So Scirocco is the 3/4 sibling to Deva and Ava, multiple Color Champs. Don't forget, Scirocco is also half brother to Kanaka... Besides all that, he just has gorgeous fleece from his gorgeous maroon belly and legs to his black cherry topknot, and all of that lovely rose grey blanket fleece in between. Scirocco's first cria arrived Aug 12, 2007. He's vicuna fawn, as all crias from this dam, has royal baby fine fleece, with superior crimp and density! He is clearly the best this dam has produced. Of course, gorgeous with a very typey face and presence. What a wonderful way to start out Scirocco's breeding career! Adobe's 2008 fleece stats came in at AFD:17.4 SD:2.8 CV:16.1 %>30µ:0.3! We had two more Scirocco crias born in 2010. A maroon female from a fawn girl born May 30! What a beauty! Next is a boy, born August 31 to a fawn dam, a Silas grand-daughter. His color is quite interesting, he's a golden medium to dark brown with black points. If you want fleece that maintains fineness into maturity, Scirocco is certainly one to consider! I'd love to see loads of Scirocco babies on the ground, and in the show ring! Scirocco's registered name is West Wind Scirocco. At the time of his birth, my farm name was West Wind Alpacas. In the following years, there were no less than four other farms using the name "West Wind" or "West Winds" Alpacas, therefore, I changed my farm name to White Lotus Alpacas.
