Satin is the result of Snowmass Alpaca's elite white production breeding program producing extreme fineness, density and staple length with unparalleled brightness in her crias. We bred her to 6 x Champion Accoyo America Prince and were thrilled with the quality of her 2014 cria. Born on Flag Day, we named him Tealwater's Stars and Stripes - such beautiful white fine and dense fleece! We bred Satin in 2016 to our Res. Ch. Tealwater's Brilliance Expressed and again were graced with a beautiful, dense, fine and strong boned male we've named Jupiter. Check out this boy's pedigree on his page! Satin was purchased at auction directly from Snowmass as our foundation white huacaya, she stamps out elite fleece whites, but also carries a medium fawn spot on her leg and passes that fawn color gene to her offspring. She is an excellent, very protective mother giving birth unassisted.

Description

Prodigious and his dam, Snowmass Satin Symphony, were the first white alpacas purchased for the Tealwater Ranch herd, selected from the Snowmass Genetics by Design auction in 2012. Prodi's dam Satin was sired by Snowmass Elite Legend: Herdsire of the Year for 2010 and 2011! Elite Legend comes from legendary Peruvian imports including 6Peruvian Accoyo Elite, Peruvian Hemingway and PPeruvian Augusto. Prodi's sire is Snowmass Royal Prophecy, one of the finest Snowmass Trilogy sons. These bloodlines were chosen for the extreme fineness and abundance of long staples produced from the world famous Snowmass Alpacas breeding program. In the highly competitive White color group, Prodigious was awarded Color Champion in 2013. Then in 2016 at almost 5 years old, Prodi's fleece was entered in the Michigan Fiber Festival AOA Certified Fleece Show judged by Sr. International Halter and Fleece Show judge and trainer, Wade Gease. Prodi earned an 82 score and won the prestigious AOA Spirit of the Fiber Industry Award for Huacaya. This award recognizes the individual alpaca that holds and even increases its value by maintaining a fleece that remains commercially viable at the highest quality over time. This award honors traits recognized as very valuable in long term breeding strategies. The AOA Certified Fleece Judge has discretion in awarding or withholding this award based upon the quality of fleeces entered in the show. The award is for the best fleece in the 3 years and older categories. There is just one Spirit of the Fiber Industry Award presented for Huacaya and one for Suri fleeces in the show. Way to go Prodi!! Prodi is a handsome and easy to handle, proud male with a calm disposition. We suspended our breeding program from 2014-2016 due to our barns being full of alpacas! When sales allowed for more room, we bred our best females for 2017 summer crias. Prodigious settled our best grey Huacaya female, Peruvian Mystique, for our 2017 cria production, unfortunately she didn't carry the pregnancy to full term.
