Powergrid has fabulous white fiber. He has placed in every show we have entered him, and won top honors out of 93 alpacas in the 2007 Southern Select Handcrafters Spin-Off. His fineness is not a surprise as he is a grandson of the famously fine Peruvian Hemingway. From his dam’s side, he also brings the bloodlines of PPPeruvian Chaparral and Peruvian King. In addition to his fine and dense fiber, he has very correct conformation and excellent coverage. Added to all this is his regal air. Powergrid has done particularly well in spin-offs, and continues to score high as he ages. Judges have commented about his fleece “dense and lofty”, “spun perfectly”, “lovely spinning!” and called the finished yarn “light and lively” and “lovely, bouncy, soft and energetic”. In 2013, Powergrid was ranked number in the ARI EPD program for Standard Deviation of Fiber Diameter. He has been passing on his incredible consistency of fineness to his offspring. Powergrid sired 13 crias, and they are all lovely. His 2008 male cria, Peaceful Heart´s Asa Lee won numerous 1st place ribbons, and in 2011 won Highest Scoring Alpaca in the Brown Color Group at both MAPACA and the AOBA Nationals. His 2009 cria, Peaceful Heart´s Solar Flare also won 1st place in the 2011 MAPACA Spin-off in his class of 9 White Alpacas. We lost Powergrid in late 2013, but we are blessed to have a lot of his fabulous genetics in our herd. You can see the quality of his offspring here and at our farm.

Dam: Sunrise Surprise

Sunrise Surprise

HuacayaBred (Female)Light Fawn
AOA# 30815001DOB: 9/26/200618 yrs
Sunrise Surprise, “Sunny”, has grown into a beautiful girl, displaying the best characteristics of both her parents, with the lovely color, fine fiber and stately bearing of her dam, and the incredible density of her sire. She is living up to our expectations of her being a great foundation female with her wonderful fleece characteristics and genetics from Bueno, The Silversmith, Caligula and El Patron. Sunny is the full sibling of our Champion herdsire Lord Tennyson. Sunny gave birth to her first cria in 2009, a lovely white boy named Solar Flare who brought home a 1st place ribbon from the 2011 AOBA Nationals. She and our white herdsire Powergrid have produced an outstanding future herdsire, who has already sold. Sunny was bred to 5 time color champion MFI Peruvian Blissful’s Knight for her 2010 cria. Their cria is a perfect ’10', born on Oct 10, 2010. We named him Ten Ten Ten, nicknamed Thirty, and expect great things from him. At just 7 months, he sheared 4.6 pounds, and sold at less than a year of age. In 2011, she gave birth to another Powergrid cria, Sunspot who is as lovely as his full brother Solar Flare. Sunny is bred to Powergrid again for a spring 2013 cria, a proven combination.

Description

Sunspot is a beautiful white boy, just like his full brother Solar Flare. Sunspot got his name from the adorable little brown spot on his left ear, the only spot of color on his bright white fleece. He is a beautiful boy with great conformation and fleece that is bright and crimpy. He just won First Place in the 2014 Southern Select Spin-Off and First Place and Highest Scoring White in the 2014 MAPACA Spin-Off! The judge commented that his fiber has "great style & architecture", and that the spun yarn has a "silky feeling, smoooth next to skin". Spot is our public relations boy on the farm. He is our 'go to' alpaca when tour groups visit the farm. Spot walks well on a lead and is calm as people take turns petting him. He has an abundance of soft fiber in a bright white. He has a great presence and often poses regally as he looks around the farm. In 2014, his first cria was born. A lovely white female. Contact us to today to discuss adding this great alpaca to your herd. Originally $750. Now reduced 50% to make room for fall arrivals.
