Powergrid has fabulous white fiber. He has placed in every show we have entered him, and won top honors out of 93 alpacas in the 2007 Southern Select Handcrafters Spin-Off. His fineness is not a surprise as he is a grandson of the famously fine Peruvian Hemingway. From his dam’s side, he also brings the bloodlines of PPPeruvian Chaparral and Peruvian King. In addition to his fine and dense fiber, he has very correct conformation and excellent coverage. Added to all this is his regal air. Powergrid has done particularly well in spin-offs, and continues to score high as he ages. Judges have commented about his fleece “dense and lofty”, “spun perfectly”, “lovely spinning!” and called the finished yarn “light and lively” and “lovely, bouncy, soft and energetic”. In 2013, Powergrid was ranked number in the ARI EPD program for Standard Deviation of Fiber Diameter. He has been passing on his incredible consistency of fineness to his offspring. Powergrid sired 13 crias, and they are all lovely. His 2008 male cria, Peaceful Heart´s Asa Lee won numerous 1st place ribbons, and in 2011 won Highest Scoring Alpaca in the Brown Color Group at both MAPACA and the AOBA Nationals. His 2009 cria, Peaceful Heart´s Solar Flare also won 1st place in the 2011 MAPACA Spin-off in his class of 9 White Alpacas. We lost Powergrid in late 2013, but we are blessed to have a lot of his fabulous genetics in our herd. You can see the quality of his offspring here and at our farm.

Tequila is an excellent mother with a great presence about her. She is an energetic girl with more bounce in her step than many girls half her age. She breeds easily, gives birth easily, and has plenty of milk. Tequila's fleece has maintained its fineness and wonderful hand as she has aged, and is a deep mahogany color that catches everyone's eye. Added to all that is the fact that she is a daughter of The Silversmith, a nationally recognized gray herdsire. Tequila consistently produces beautiful crias. She has 12 registered crias, including 8 females. We have had five of Tequila's crias. Her 2005 cria, Sensational Mahogany, has the same lovely reddish shade to his dark brown fiber. Tequila's 2006 cria Caramello is a beauty with fine, dense fleece and a sweet personality. He was snapped up before his first birthday by a farm in New York looking to add his great genetics to their herd. Tequila's next two crias, Henrietta Ruth and Sugar Cookie have incredibly fine fleeces and beautiful looks. Their sweet personalities make them both favorites with our farm visitors. Her newest, Black Pearl, is already making her mark with her vivid personality. Currently Tequila is bred to our gray herdsire FG Gryffyn. We are excited to see what this combination of genetics and color produces.

Description

One of my favorite alpacas. When my son saw her when she was first born, he said she looked like a sugar cube. After she sat up and we got a good look at her, he decided she reminded him more of a sugar cookie with her white neck and legs and very light fawn blanket. We all agreed that he had found the perfect name (David is responsible for the most creative names on the farm). Our third cria from Powergrid, she definitely shows what he can produce. Sugar Cookie's mother Tequila was one of the initial foundation females of our herd and was one of our best producers. Sugar Cookie is living up to her mother's reputation. She has the same incredibly fine fleece of both parents and a wonderfully sweet personality. She and her sister have formed a great foundation for our herd. We bred Sugar Cookie to our Reserve Color Champion and multiple First Place winning Lord Tennyson, and they have produced two gorgeous male crias. Tennyson's Milton was born in 2011 with dense, silky fleece in tight, light fawn bundles. In 2012, they gave us beautiful, white, Sir Galahad, who won First and Champion at the 2013 VA Classic Walking Fleece Show (just like his sire did in 2008). Sugar Cookie was bred to the fabulous Kubla Khan, and gave us a super future herdsire, a lovely true black named Ninja in 2013, with incredible fiber and Top 5% EPDs. In 2014, we finally got the female we were waiting for, Snickerdoodle Twist. Deciding to make Sugar available for sale has been a hard decision, but she and her sister have made a great impact on our herd and we want to allow her to bring her wonderful characteristics to another herd while she is at her prime breeding age. Sugar Cookie ranks in the top 4-8% of all fiber characteristics related to fineness in the ARI EPD program. Sugar Cookie sells with a breeding and would breed with any of our Champion herdsires for a great cria. Talk with us to decide which would be the right combination for your farm goals.
