Polar Ice is the newest addition to our herdsire lineup at Peaceful Heart Alpacas. He brings an incredible genetic background including Jedi Accoyo of the USA, Caligula, and Bolivian Ice Man, and a fabulous, dense, buttery soft fleece full of beautiful crimp. He has been in the show ring many times and has brought home an impressive collection of ribbons including 11 First Place, 3 Reserve Color Championships (two in halter and one in fleece), and a Color Championship at the 2012 Buckeye Show. We first saw Polar Ice at the 2013 Virginia Classic where we were struck with his presence as he walked into the ring, and watched as he walked away with yet another First Place win. Natalia is a full Peruvian alpaca whose ancestry includes not only her famous sire Guellermo, but the incredibly fine, and limited genetics of, Timoteo on her dam’s side. Natalia consistently shears around six pounds of fleece each year, and ranks in the top 10% for staple length in the ARI EPDs. She is a curious girl who likes to stay close and see what you are up to around the farm. She is a multi-ribbon winner, who has produced 5 lovely crias. Natalia is a protective mother whose crias grow fast and healthy. Natalia sells with her 2014 female cria out of our 4 time Champion/Reserve Champion Polar Ice. Peaceful Heart's Elsa was born June 6, 2014 and is a beauty. She has dense fawn fleece, very correct conformation and great size for her age. Lord Tennyson has it all, wonderful bloodlines – Bueno, Caligula, El Patron, The Silversmith; incredible fleece – brilliant white, tight, crimpy bundles; good size and conformation; and incredible presence. Tennyson has inherited the great fleece shearing weight of his sire Lord Byron, like his sire Tennyson shears around 10 pounds. In addition to all these wonderful characteristics, Tennyson is a gentle boy with an incredible sense of presence about him. At the 2009 VAOBA Expo Fleece Show, he was awarded the Reserve Color Championship. Earlier that year, he won First in the light class of the Virginia Classic Walking Fleece Fiber Futurity for the second time in a row. In 2008 he won as the youngest in the class at exactly 6 months of age (and went on to win Best in Futurity), and next year as the oldest in the class, just one day shy of 18 months. He continues to do well in regional and national shows. Lord Tennyson’s first crias hit the ground in 2011, and they are incredible. Tennyson’s Milton has lovely fleece, conformation, and that sense of presence that hints at great things to come. Tennyson’s Becket has all that in fawn, and Timbuctoo has incredible fiber and one of the sweetest faces I’ve ever seen. In 2012, we welcomed Lady Clare (and an almost identical beauty who was born off the farm) and Sir Galahad in the spring and Tennyson’s Arthur and White Owl in the fall.
