Powergrid has fabulous white fiber. He has placed in every show we have entered him, and won top honors out of 93 alpacas in the 2007 Southern Select Handcrafters Spin-Off. His fineness is not a surprise as he is a grandson of the famously fine Peruvian Hemingway. From his dam’s side, he also brings the bloodlines of PPPeruvian Chaparral and Peruvian King. In addition to his fine and dense fiber, he has very correct conformation and excellent coverage. Added to all this is his regal air. Powergrid has done particularly well in spin-offs, and continues to score high as he ages. Judges have commented about his fleece “dense and lofty”, “spun perfectly”, “lovely spinning!” and called the finished yarn “light and lively” and “lovely, bouncy, soft and energetic”. In 2013, Powergrid was ranked number in the ARI EPD program for Standard Deviation of Fiber Diameter. He has been passing on his incredible consistency of fineness to his offspring. Powergrid sired 13 crias, and they are all lovely. His 2008 male cria, Peaceful Heart´s Asa Lee won numerous 1st place ribbons, and in 2011 won Highest Scoring Alpaca in the Brown Color Group at both MAPACA and the AOBA Nationals. His 2009 cria, Peaceful Heart´s Solar Flare also won 1st place in the 2011 MAPACA Spin-off in his class of 9 White Alpacas. We lost Powergrid in late 2013, but we are blessed to have a lot of his fabulous genetics in our herd. You can see the quality of his offspring here and at our farm.

Lystra has provided a strong foundation for our herd. She is a beautiful, large alpaca with a lovely fawn fleece. A Caligula granddaughter through her sire El Patron, and from The Silversmith line through her dam, Lystra has the genetics to produce beautiful crias. She has been doing just that. Her crias are all incredible. Her 2006 cria, Sunrise Surprise “Sunny” is now producing her own incredible crias (four great boys so far). In 2007, Lystra produced a fabulous male, Lord Tennyson, who has won numerous awards, including Reserve Color Champion and now Get of Sire, and saw his first fabulous crias born in 2011. In 2008, we were pleased to welcome Asa Lee to our herd. The fineness and hand of his fleece is something that just must be felt. It has already won him multiple First Place ribbons and the Highest Scoring Brown Huacaya Alpaca at the 2011 AOBA Nationals and MAPACA Spin-Offs. In September 2009 we greeted beautiful Pirate’s Luck. Yet another cria with incredible fleece, 16.8 microns at 32 months of age. Lystra’s 2010 cria with multiple award-winning My Peruvian Fire ‘n Ice is another gorgeous boy, Regal Copper. His fleece is incredibly dense with tight bundles of shiny copper fleece, and he has the same size and strong frame of his siblings and is now starting his herdsire career at another farm (RC's first cria was just born, a beautiful girl). In 2011 and 2012, we repeated the breeding to our award-winning herdsire Powergrid that produced Asa Lee in 2008. Their 2011 cria, Lightning Bolt is now a junior herdsire at a local alpaca farm. Their 2012 cria, Elise will join her mother as a foundation of our herd. In 2013, Lystra did it again with a fabulous male cria out of FWD Kubla Khan. Augustine is a beautiful boy with dense, beautiful fleece.

Description

Asa Lee is our third beautiful (and large) cria from Lystra. He weighed in at 24.5 pounds at birth. He is also one of our first crias from our prized herdisire Powergrid. Considering the genetics he brings from both sides, including Caligula, El Patron, Hemingway, Chaparral and Peruvian King, it is no surprise that Asa Lee has dense, crimpy fleece that is incredibly soft to the touch. The high quality of his fleece recently received recognition at the 2009 VAOBA and the 2010 Carolina Alpaca Celebration Spin-Offs where he placed First in large classes. Be sure to check out his fiber statistics listed. They are impressive. But nothing compares to sinking your hands into the fleece of this sweet boy.
