Wow...if you are looking for top quality genetics, look no further than Bertolini. With Hemingway as his sire, that would be enough, but there's more to his story. This handsome boy also has Peruvian Pachacuti as his grandsire and Felix as his great grandsire on his Dam's side. His fiber is amazing, very dense and crimpy. His 2007 histogram was: 17.4 - 3.5 - 20.1 - 0.7. We are expecting great things out of this boy and cannot wait to add him to our breeding program. 2011 Update: Our beloved Bert began his breeding career in 2010, settling his first female with one try. His first cria will hit the ground July 2011. 2013 Update: Bert's first cria did hit the ground in 2011 and she is stunning. He had his first son that Cashew decided to deliver during National Alpaca Farm Days. This little guy is full of promise. 2015: We are reducing Bertolini's sale price as we now have his son and daughter on the farm, and additional animals with related genetics. We may pull him back into our foundation herd as the genetic makeup of the herd evolves, so if you are interested in a Hemingway son, this is your chance! His fiber is still holding well, he has been able to maintain his density and his 2012 AFD was 23.8. His current EPD rankings are provided on the fiber stats page.

***Sadly, Cashew passed away early in 2016. We will leave her information up on our site as she was one of our main foundation dams and we still have her offspring available. We are confident that her offspring will carry on with her great characteristics. Thank you, Cashew! You were a true lady.*** Cashew is a 1/2 Peruvian, 1/4 white Accoyo granddaughter of the legendary PPPeruvian Auzengate 6101. On her dam's side, she is the grand-daughter of PPPERUVIAN AZUL CELESTE 4865, who was one of the elite females from the original 3rd Peruvian import. Cashew passes those genetics very nicely onto all her cria. Cashew passes on color when bred to color. She has produced light fawn when bred to beige and light brown when bred to light brown. She is a good mother with no health issues at all. Just an overall good mom. She is white with good conformation and good quality fiber with lingering fineness. This fineness has been passed on to the 4 cria’s born to her on our farm. All of her offspring will be moving into our breeding program, and in order to make room, we are willing to let Cashew move on to help bring her amazing qualities to your herd! Cashew was bred late this year to Bertolini for a repeat of her stunning 2011 cria Bertolini's GirlScout. Her ultrasound was inconclusive as it was done very soon after the late breeding. We will retest her again in the spring and rebreed if she is not pregnant. Update: Cashew's 2013 cria arrived during our open farm day event in September. A perfect light fawn/beige male, named Augustus. We have decided to give Cashew a break and allow her to go into semi-retirement for 2014. We are currently offering her at a lower price while she is open. This a great opportunity to bring Auzengate genetics into your herd. We will include two breedings to any of our fully owned herdsires with her purchase price. We will also consider additional discounts if purchased as a companion or fiber animal -- this will allow her to move into full retirement and become a lady of leisure!

Description

Well, what can we say about Gus? He chose to arrive during our National Alpaca Farm Days event during a wind and rain storm. So, we knew he'd have to have "GUST" somewhere in his name! This little guy does not disappoint. With MSA Peruvian Bertolini as his sire and PI Cashew as his dam, Gus is a genetic powerhouse. Hemingway, Felix, Pachacutti AND Auzengate all in one amazing package. We do not want to let him go, but at the moment we do have multiple animals in the herd with related genetics and we will not make a final decision on him as a herdsire until later in 2015. His first fleece was amazing with an AFD of 20.4 and SD of 3.9. His EPD rankings are available on his fiber stat page, fiber samples also available. Gus is very smart, curious but reserved. He is very easy to handle and will be halter trained very soon.
