We acquired Tess’s mom, an older Australian Import when she was at least 14 years old. Even at her “mature” age, Inca King Tux carried herself with dignity and presence on a balanced frame and she retained a fine, bright blue black fleece with classic white tuxedo markings. Although she hadn’t been bred in over 7 years, “Oreo” got pregnant easily and birthed Tess with no problem. Unfortunately, we lost Oreo when Tess was 3 months old. Oreo was such a great mom that Tess was already over 60 pounds and thriving. It’s always hard to lose a dam, especially when she has a young cria but Tess was very independent and the other moms kept an eye on her so she thrived. Like her dam, Tess is easily handled and has a calm temperament. Like her dam, she also has been easy to breed, gives birth easily and is a very attentive mother with rich milk for her babies. To date, she has birthed 2 lovely females cria. Although different in color, both girls have excellent structure with heavy bone on their very straight legs, deep chest on a compact frame,soft, crimpy, lovely fleece and easy dispositions. Tess has been on the sales list as bred to SCF Black Ryder, a multiple color champion black male. Her newest cria, Sahara Rose (light rose gray) is the product of that pairing and she is so lovely we have decided to keep her. Tess's sale price includes a breeding for her and to tell the truth, we weren't going to rebreed her until she sold but Tess was pretty insistent (if you know what we mean...) and Sahara is soo beautiful that we went ahead and rebred her to Black Ryder. So I guess that Tess's lucky buyer can get a "Sahara Rose" of their own AND we'll throw in another breeding to any herdsire here at Merrimac.
