Service Sire: Dundee's Katmandu
30635418<--ari-->True Black<--color-->We (Reiling Ranch) are so thrilled with the crias Katmandu is giving us! They are exceptionally fine and bright with very long consistent staple. He is producing spot free greys that are not only incredibly fine, but simply stunning. He has passed along his very strong color and his black and grey cria are doing extremely well in the show ring.
He not only has retained his fabulously dense, great handling fleece and good looks with great coverage well into maturity, Katmandu added another R Championship at 5 Years old! His fine fleeced density is holding strong. His crias also have incredible fineness and density. The fineness he's putting on the dark and greys that he's throwing is also proving to hold into year 2 just like his does (one daughter is 16.0mfd @2). As Dundee Farm said, "Not very often do you see a male of this caliber and pedigree for sale!" We want to heartily thank them for selling. Katman fits into our program perfectly and is part of our long range breeding goal. We selected him for his superior density, consistency, fineness, and incredible shine & staple length. Not to mention his handsome look overall. Plus he has a very strong black gene noted by his very solid, deep, non-fading dark coloring and lineage.
When you put your hands on his fleece, you can't help but say wow. His extremely bold crimp style can be felt as soon as you touch him. As you run your hands up into his topknot, you realize that he carries his fleece density and quality through. He is quite humble though and doesn't mind the compliments :)
Dundee bred their 2x Champion Othello daughter, Nocturna (Tina) to 4x Champion The Reverend Mr. Black shortly after they both took the Black Color Championships at the Great Western Alpaca Show in 2005. Expectations were high and I don't think anyone was disappointed.
This true black son of these two remarkable alpacas won a Reserve Championship in his first show. He was first out of 15 and then won the Reserve out of over 4<--description-->
Description
Bonnie's Lupine is very definitely a grey in disguise. Both parents are light silver grey and 11 out of 14 of her ancestors (shown on her registration) are either silver grey or rose grey and 2 of the remaining 3 are true black! We expect that she will make an impact on our and other's grey breeding programs. Her fleece exhibits a nice density, softness of hand, and an exceptional consistency of style throughout, and as her father did…. lingering fineness with age. She has had three previous offspring with the fabulous sire Mile High Deacon Grey and two of those were LSG.
She is an easy keeper, an excellent mother and a producer of ribbon winning crias (two out of three being grey).
We felt that a breeding to the 3x Champion, 1x Judges Choice and 9x 1st place winner Wolf Den Dark Secret should be in store for Bonnie Lupin. Dark Secret has true black none fading tips, extreme density and bundled crimp and we and the prior owner feel that this should be one incredible cria coming up in 2015. Stay tuned!!
Well, he2 2016 cria has arrived and is gorgeous - see the pictures of Choco! Just did his cria tipping and will be getting my chart out to determine for sure between bay black and super dark brown. Either way he looks great, still has that "popcorn" fleece quality and is growing like a weed.
Bonnie is now spitting off her suitor - Dundee's Katmandu and all signs point to her being pregnant and ready to have another beautiful cria in early 2017.
Bonnie's 2017 cria is a beautiful, true black female with soft crimpy fleece. Exactly what you would expect from a breeding with a perfect true black like Katmandu!!
Original owners did not attend shows, so Bonnie has never been to a show. This doesn't diminish the special qualities she has and the excellent genetic background. We have submitted her fleece this year for histograms and will update her file as soon as results are received.
We promised data and show and here are the results
Bonnie's Fleece scored very nicely and garnered a first place in the 2015 TXOLAN spin-off competition. We also received a histogram this year and it showed an AFD of 26 and CV of 20% - actually still good considering this is as a 7 year old production dam!
