Nikos is an exceptional, half-accoyo, showy son of the renowned silver grey herdsire Aussie Rockford. Nikos is also out of one of the top quality grey females in the nation, Peaceful Valley Priya. Rockford is a half-accoyo son of Pperuvian Felix (deceased) and Priya is a half-accoyo daughter of Pperuvian Yupanqui (deceased), and both of Nikos' parents are highly regarded winners of numerous blue ribbons. Nikos has outstanding conformation, a well-shaped beautiful head, extreme coverage and a dense topknot. His fleece is very, very fine and bright, with good architecture and a gorgeous dark silver grey color. He has well-defined narrow crimp throughout his fiber - all the way up his neck and into his topknot. Nikos is one of the most eye-catching and stylish grey males we have ever seen, with fantastic conformation, coverage, presence, movement and superb fiber. He has three Championships and nine blue ribbons to his credit, even though he has only set foot in a showring three times in his life! The rose grey Avatar son who was Reserve Champion to Nikos at the VA Classic, went on to win Reserve Champion at the prestigious Futurity in 2005, which gives you some idea of the quality of this male... His first crias arrived in Fall 2007 - one solid true black, one true black with a white face - and his 2008 son out of a black dam appears to be a rare dark-pointed roan! Proven to hold fineness and handle over time, Nikos offers excellent quality in colored fiber and rare Accoyo ancestry. His genetics will only be available through his offspring for the forseeable future, and we are currently offering a dark brown 7/8 Peruvian Champion female, Holly, bred with Nikos for her May 2009 cria, either as a 3-in-1, or as part of our "Six for $36,000" package.

SPANISHPEAKS Knight's Lady in Black

HuacayaBred (Female)True Black
AOA# 30925397DOB: 9/6/200618 yrs
Lady is the third black daughter from her extraordinary mother, Spanish Peaks Madison Avenue and the first offspring of Nova's Black Knight III, the 2004 Futurity Reserve Champion and son of the legendary true black Snowmass Nova. Black Knight placed above 4 other Snowmass Nova sons at the 2004 Futurity, all of whom had placed at the top of their classes. He has superfine, dense, uniform, bundled black fiber - his first two shearings both had an AFD of less than 20 microns. Lady has her father's elegant, calm presence and excellent conformation. Her fleece is lustrous, velvety soft, and full of uniform crimp. Lady is a powerhouse of top genetics for fleece quality and for black color. Her father's lineage includes Bueno, Drambuie, Snowmass Peruvian Casanova (rose grey), Black Knight PC G222 and Zorro PC G188. On her mother's side are Felix and Outback Gold. Her mother has gorgeous fleece with a CV of 13.2 and SD of 3.6 at 2 years of age, giving it a satiny sheen and silk-like handle. Ruth Elvestad pointed out Madison's second shearing at a seminar as being the type of fleece we should all be aiming to breed and the Canadian fiber mill which processed Madison's fourth shearing, called to say it was the most beautiful black fleece they had ever seen, and asking if they could buy her future fleeces and any others like them! Lady was bred with our 3X Champion dark silver grey PV Nikos to produce her Fall 2008 cria, Severn, who appears to be a dark-tipped roan, which was a surprise, as we were expecting silver grey or black from this breeding! Lady has been bred back to our Champion silver grey male, Ben MacDhui, for her Fall 2009 cria.

Description

Severn is a unique color combo of MB, BB, and vicuna patterning. His blanket is medium brown with good crimp, density, organization, and nice hand with excellent staple. The rest of this boy is dark where alpacas are typically light, and he has vicuna patterning on his belly and inner legs. He looks like a "negative rose grey", and based on his strong heritage of black and grey genetics, he should certainly be able to produce both. We have exposed Severn to Rosie Angel Finch for a fall 2012 cria. The combination of her extreme density with his excellent fleece characteristics should complement each other for a very nice cria. You have to see this boy in person to experience his unique coloring. Check him out and reserve a breeding at the listed introductory price, and watch for auction specials to help spread his genetics to other breeding programs! comments by Thistledown Alpacas: Severn was quite the surprise, out of 3X Champion dark silver grey sire, Nikos, and our blue ribbon-winning true black dam, Lady. Born on December 13th, with a pedigree to die for - Felix, Yupanqui, Snowmass Nova, Hannaruh, Fantasy's Gremlin and Outback Gold - his coloration is most unusual. He has a bay black head, neck and lower legs, plus black fibers shot through his brown blanket, and a white "7" on his face. He is like a negative rose grey, and has wonderful conformation and presence. Interesting little guy, with lovely fine, crimpy fiber.
