Congratulations to Larry and Darla Goodrich on the purchase of Katana. Katana is perhaps our most promising alpaca of the 2010 group. His conformation is second to none. This boy has very strong bone, proportion, and holds himself like he knows it to be true. Katana means sword in Japanese, and from the start he stood straight and proud. Katana's fleece is very bright and consistent with a medium frequency high amplitude crimp style. It is extremely uniform, fine, and organized. All these attributes come together in giving Katana a very pleasant handle with buttery fleece. Needless to say, we were very proud when Katana took FIRST PLACE in the True Black Juveniles class at GWAS, a level V show. Katana is a Misty Ridge Altair's Samaurai boy. A judge said of Samaurais fleece: “I could handle this fleece all day, incredibly bright, beautiful density. This is what we as an industry need to be breeding for”. And the latest: Katana takes blue AGAIN at the National Western Stock Show ...and the COLOR RESERVE! Good job Katana! The judge said he had fleece that was inky black that was incredible to handle. Katana started his breeding career in the spring of 2013. If you want to bring incredible conformation and low micron to your herd, give us a call. Katana has some fantastic cria from his 2013 breedings. We used his service for 2014 and had spectacular results. Call now for reservations.

Congratulations to Jim and Renee at Coyote Ridge Alpacas for purchasing Bacardi Silver. She is a beautiful girl and has had champion cria. Who can't love a face like that. If you are looking for one of those coveted gray alpacas, then look no further. Not only a silver gray, Bacardi is a rarer gray that has only a few small, almost indistinguishable spots on her fleece. She also has good crimp, great staple length, and a wonderful disposition. Bacardi is full sister to the well known Great Smoky Mtns of Blackforest, a consistent blue ribbon winner in the show ring. We only showed Bacardi once and she took a blue ribbon. Bacardi's first cria, Brandywine, is a rose gray, who took a blue at her first show, and went on to take Color Reserve Champion in the gray class as a juvenile! Bacardi's next service sire was Misty Ridge Altair's Samurai, a medium brown, who has had rave ratings at the show circuit! With 3 color championships and 9 blue ribbons under his belt, it's no wonder one judge remarked, "I could handle this fleece all day, incredible brightness, beautiful density, this is what we as an industry need to be breeding for." On July 19, 2010, Bacardi had a boy weighing in at 19 lbs. He has a beautiful face with crimpy dark fawn fleece. Only time will tell how he develops, but if his sire is any indication we are looking forward to a bright show career for him. Bacardi delivered a handsome med silver gray boy on 8/11/2011. His sire was Sunny Mesa's Pepperdyne. He has a beautiful face and great confirmation. We named him Silver Mojito. We bred Bacardi in 2011 to Rickenbacker, which is a medium fawn boy that gets better every year. On September 10, 2012, Bacardi delivered a beautiful dark brown boy. He was 16.2 lbs, and was up and nursing within the hour. Check him out under Blackstrap Rum.

Description

Bacardi gave birth to a beautiful gray girl we are thinking of naming Sake. She has beautiful medium gray crimpy fleece. Her conformation is flawless and she reminds us of her sire when he was a cria. Katana stood out as a cria, standing tall and looking almost regal. A judge noted that he took command of the show ring the minute he entered. This little girl takes on the presence of her sire. She was standing tall as soon as she was on her little white feet. We look forward to showing her in the show ring and seeing blue.
