Cognac is an Incan alpaca type - very compact, strong boned, and correct in his conformation. He is loaded with ultra-fine colored fleece genetics. Photographs don't do justice to his gorgeous color - he is truly the color of a fine glass of Cognac. With only 10 months of growth between shearings, his fleece weighed in at over 7 pounds. And what fleece it is - you won't find many dark fawn males with 18 micron fleeces. Cognac's sire, 5Peruvian Red Hot, is a Vicuna quality brown male out of the elite North American Alpaca Stud also with an 18 micron fleece. Red Hot's progeny have been consistently winning their classes at the All American Futurity. Peruvian Red Hot has been an integral part of the Snowmass colored program. Julie Skinner notes that Red Hot was born out of Black Peruvian Dam and was such an incredible cria, unrelated to any of the colored alpacas in their program, that they never even dared take him off the farm. Snowmass was able to use him over all the offspring from most other males their herd, to deepen the fineness and consistency of their colored breeding program, placing Red Hot squarely among the top colored males Snowmass has ever used. Cognac is among the very few Red Hot sons available for outside breedings in the country. Of equal importance in Cognac's lineage are his two grand dams - 5Peruvian Ajoyani and 6Pervuvian Silent Night. These are two of the most significant black dams imported from Peru that served as the foundation of the colored herd at Snowmass Alpacas. It is particularly rare to find both of these lines represented in a single male. In 2014 we had to bid a final farewell to Cognac. His genetics are captured deep in our herd and we miss him greatly. We keep him listed here as a lasting tribute.

Dam: OAR's Summer Solstice

OAR's Summer Solstice

HuacayaFemaleWhite
AOA# 828410DOB: 7/28/200123 yrs
Summer is a compact and conformationally correct female with very fine fleece. We acquired her as a perfect complement to our elite fleeced males. Summer is the product of the breeding program at Omineca Alpaca Ranch, one of the finest programs in Canada. Summer's sire is Peruvian Canadar, a Hemingway son, that sold as a five week old cria for $25,000 and went to Canada to become the record holder as the most expensive alpaca sold in Canada. Canadar was purchased by Northwest Alpacas as the newest addition to their StudMaster stable. Canadar's dam is Ppperuvian Precious 5015, a white Sollocota Peruvian import with the most impressive fleece statistics we have seen on an adult alpaca: Fleece: 15.6/4.2/26.9/0.7 @ 6 years; 16.9/3.8/16.7/0.0 @ 9 years Precious is a small female with correct conformation and extremely fine fleece. Her fineness has been passed on to her offspring. Summer has her grand dam's conformation and fineness. Summer's dam, Jolimont 2Peruvian Tranquila, was one of the top picks from the Australian importation. At 8 years of age Tranquila still holds very fine fleece, posting an AFD of 25. All of Tranquila's offspring are posting sub-20 micron counts. Summer truly has elite fleece genetics - clearly demonstrated by her 19 micron fleece at five years of age. Summer is pregnant by our super stud Albus. Here is a match of great white genetics and we expect a beautiful cria from this pairing.

NEWS: SKIN BIOPSY RESULTS COMPLETE Dr. Evans "Albus highest S/P ratio ever tested to date" He has an S/P Ratio of 21.25! We are pleased to announce our partnership with our friends Joanna and Rob Stephens of RobAsia Alpacas. We share ownership is a fantastic young male with amazing potential - RobAsia's Albus. We have been very selective in purchasing breeding males for our herd. For us to purchase a white male meant he had to meet and exceed any of all of our expectations for powerful genetics, excellent fleece characteristics proven with hard data, and great conformational traits. We studied him on paper, looked and fleece samples, and then traveled to Wisconsin to see him in the flesh. We made our decision with no hesitation. Genetics: Albus is sired by Snowmass Quechua's Quest. Quest is an amazing combination of two powerhouse lines in the Snowmass herd, Snowmass Star Quest (Augusto line) and Snowmass Quechua (multiple herdsire of the year). Albus' dam brings just as much to the table with her Snowmass Invincble and Accoyo Caligula in her portfolio. A secret ingredient in Albus is the appearance of arguably, the most influential female in the Snowmass herd, Snowmass Maree Love on both the top and bottom of Albus' pedigree. Fleece: Beautiful! We studied his fleece samples, saw his show fleece from his last shearing, and studied his fleece on body. The hand on Albus' fleece is among the best we have touched. The character and crimp in the fleece is consistent from top of his head to his tail. Check out fiber stats. Awesome histogram on third shearing! Conformation: Albus is upright, straight, and demonstrates strong bone structure. His photos tell the story. Albus now has cria on the ground with our partner farm in Wisconsin - they are reportedly the best cria born at RobAsia. We have confirmed pregnancies here in Texas with the first cria due in early November. He is standing at Blue Gate from November 2015 until May 2016. Limited outside breedings to approved females. Females confirmed bred to Albus available for sale.

Elite Genetics

Description

Blue Gate Bellini is a full Peruvian female. She is the daughter of our Snowmass Red Hot Cognac and OAR's Summer Solstice (Hemingway line). She has great conformation and incredibly fine fleece. Bellini is the result of a careful breeding decision to combine dam and sire genetics for a super outcome. She arrived a bit early and needed some extra help for 48 hours, but since then she has not looked back and is affectionately known around the farm as "the tank." Her sire is our elite Peruvian stud Snowmass Red Hot Cognac. Cognac brings a rare line of of fine fleece Peruvian genetics in color. His sire is 5Peruvian Red Hot, an in-utero import who stands as part of the North American Alpaca Stud. His rare color genetics are infused into the elite herd at Snowmass Alpacas and at Cas-Cad-Nac Farm. Cognac's dam is the daughter of 6Peruvian Silent Night, arguably one of the best black imports from Peru - giving Cognac some outstanding color genetics. Bellini's dam is OAR's Summer Solstice, a product of the Omineca breeding program in Canada. Summer has held on to her very fine fleece into her breeding years. Her sire is Peruvian Canadar, a Hemingway son out of an amazingly fine Sollocota dam, who recently became a featured member of the StudMaster program at Northwest Alpacas. Canadar progeny are a rare commodity and we are proud to have Summer in our herd. Summer's dam is Jolimont 2Peruvian Tranquila. The combination of Cognac's Sollocota genetics with Summer's Alianza/Sollocota genetics produced a fine young female with rich color and very fine fleece. We love how this girl has developed. Her maiden breeding was to Snowmass Andean Night, a stunning producer of quality dark fleeced alpacas from the Snowmass Andean Bronze line. Bellini delivered a gorgeous, fabulously fleeced, dark fawn female from this breeding. We will likely keep Andean Trio in our foundation herd, so we would consider selling this outstanding production female. Bellini bred to our multi-champion RobAsia's Albus to see how Albus does with color. This result is an amazing line up of genetic goodness. Her cria Blue Gate Tempest is simply fantastic. Bellini is bred back to Albus for a Spring '18 cria.
