Gem’s rich fawn fleece is typically classified as being vicuna style—very narrow amplitude, high frequency crimp and extremely bright (almost lustrous). We specifically purchased Gem from Snowmass Alpacas to bring brightness, uniformity and fineness to our breeding program. He comes from a very limited bloodline--Gem is 1 of 7 Peruvian Andean Gold offspring in existence...another one is Snowmass Andean Bronze who is a member of the North American Alpaca Stud line up. Gem has proven himself repeatedly by producing offspring that simply glisten when the sun catches their fleece! She has a correct jaw alignment with teeth that have never required trimming. Ione is a high fiber producing female--in 2005 her SKIRTED blanket weight was 9lbs! She is an incredible producer of fiber that still maintains excellent character and fineness--she is a 1998 model. Ione is a very gentle, caring dam that truly loves being a mother. She not only tends to her own crias with an abundance of milk but will allow other crias to nurse on her should the need arise.<--description-->
