UPDATE: sometime in the summer of 2018, Manchu quit producing sperm. We finally tested and confirmed in spring of 2019. He had a long run and produced many outstanding cria. We are thrilled to still have daughters, sons and grandlkids still in the herd. He is retired to live out his time in the old guys pasture. He has a triangular head shape with a broad muzzle and good distance from eye to lower face. He is true to type thru his head and overall proportions, exhibiting fineness, uniformity of character throughout the blanket and excellent density for fineness. True Herdsire prospect! As you can see from his histograms over the years he is VERY consistent. He sheared 13.9 POUNDS in his 2008 annual shearing. 14.2 lbs in his 2009 annual shearing, 14.8 lbs in his 2010 shearing. WOW. DENSE. 2007 Skin biopsy - Follicular Density of 61; S/P Ratio 11/1 Age 15 mo. Derywdd is opening a new line of herdsires titled "The Derwydd Affordables! These are males with impeccable pedigrees, very correct conformation, excellent fleece characteristics - but not quite the big show record or not enough crias on the ground with winning show records to justify a large breeding fee (yet). These males will have their breeding prices set in the $500 to $750 range (discounts for drive-bys) They are targeted for breeders on a tight budget that still want excellence in the breeding male. They may be available for summer lease or partnerships or for sale, please inquire! If you are looking for an 'Affordable Breeding' then check these males out! I never thought we would sell him.. but here he is! He needs breedings - and with his 'old man' here at the ranch its tough for him to get business!! Meet Mad Max - he was the very first Manchu son born on the Derwydd Ranch. His dam Alan's Little Lucky had one cria before she died, and that was Max - so he is very special to us. STUNNING Pedigree - with Maple Brook Barnabus, Accoyo Augusto, Accoyo Legacy and of course Accoyo Manchu and EL Nino.. Max has a compact frame much like his grandfather El Nino (who weighed in the 140's soppin wet) A perfect bite, lovely fleece architecture, big bone just like his sire Manchu and the signature Manchu head. We have a great picture (created in photoshop) of Manchu and Max side by side as weanlings.. WOW do they look alike. Fleece stats are looking very nice: 2011 shearing AFD 20.4 CD 3.5 CV 17.2 and % over 30 1.6 - Yup and you can see that reflected in his fleece scorecard from Gold Country Gathering at the right here and what is more impressive and a look into his future... check out his DAM's scorecard AT THE SAME SHOW.. at FIVE YEARS OLD... hmmm the more I write - the more I am wondering just WHY I am selling him.
