Ben MacDhui

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 817456DOB: 9/5/199925 yrs
MacDhui's ARI certificate reads like a veritable "Who's Who" of the nation's top grey alpacas! His sire, Request the Best, is one of the most spectacular grey herdsires to be found anywhere, a multiple blue ribbon winner who placed first at the AOBA Nationals for three successive years. Dhui's grandsire on his father's side is the great medium rose grey, Cisco Kid, who is also sire to the famous General Schwarzkopf. From his black dam, MacDhui has inherited perfect conformation and a grey and black pedigree going back four generations, including SA Silverado and The Silversmith. Quite apart from his star-studded pedigree, Ben MacDhui is well known on the show circuit as a top quality grey herdsire in his own right. At MaPaca 2002, Mike Safley pronounced him "the densest alpaca in the class" and at the 2002 Virginia Classic Dr. Anthony Stachowski remarked on his "exquisite head" and "exemplary density". Other judges comments include "wonderful fleece", "very typey conformation" and "stylish". MacDhui is a real head-turner, with a wonderful temperament, excellent coverage, conformation and fiber. His first son, the half-Peruvian rose grey Kinross, sold as a future herdsire at only 4 months of age and won a blue ribbon in his first show. His first daughter, Shannon of Cairngorm, placed second in the "Bred and owned female" class at the 2005 Virginia Classic and sold within a week of being offered for sale. His second daughter, Eilwen, sold before she was weaned and without ever being listed for sale and placed third in halter at the 2006 Virginia Classic. His medium silver grey son, Skye, sold as a herdsire prospect and won a blue ribbon in yearling halter at the Level V Buckeye Show in 2006. Elin, his beautiful half-Peruvian dark brown daughter, won a blue ribbon at MAPACA in 2007!

Dam: River Rock's Sabrina

River Rock's Sabrina

HuacayaBred (Female)Dark Brown
AOA# 824001DOB: 7/12/200024 yrs
Sabrina is irresistible. She has inherited the award-winning fiber quality, growth rate and character of her Peruvian sire, NWA, Ltd Leo, and her grandsire, Accoyo Peruvian Leon, who is the darkest fawn Accoyo male in the U.S. with an AFD of 19.9 microns at 4 years of age. Sabrina has a gorgeous typey huacaya head, incredible density and staple length and heavy bone. Her dark color genetics and phenomenal density come from her dam, Black Moon, whose heritage is all black and grey. Sabrina is the richest dark chocolate or coffee color you have ever seen and has a calm, gentle and friendly personality. She has already demonstrated her ability to pass on her dark color genetics, her magnificent head, density and staple length with the birth of her award-winning son, Thistledown's Angus of Argyll, and her 2003 cria, the true black Logan, out of our maroon herdsire, Romeo. Sabrina births easily, produces an unbelievable amount of milk, and is a calm and attentive dam. Angus has also inherited her outstanding temperament and heavy bone. At only 10 days over the minimum age limit to show, while recovering from a broken front leg, Angus ribboned in a very competitive dark brown class halter at MaPaca 2003, the largest show in the country. Sabrina is currently bred with our multiple award-winning silver grey herdsire, Ben MacDhui, with the potential to produce grey or black - she has already produced crias in black and dark brown with rose grey spots. Sabrina's price does not include her Fall 2004 Dhui cria, but does include a breeding to your choice of our award-winning herdsires for her 2005 cria. Description

Marcel has everything we have been striving for in our breeding program - color, fleece and conformation. His fiber is gorgeous: fine and dense with long staple, and his blanket is a consistent nonspotted rose grey. Marcel's lovely bright fleece and soft handle are especially nice for a grey. His fleece earned high scores for fineness, uniformity and brightness from Wade Gease. His blanket at one year of age weighed over 4 lbs! Couple that with his ‘eye catching’ mime look, and his wonderful typey head, he really stands out as a herdsire contender. Marcel’s sire is Ben MacDhui, whose ARI certificate reads like a veritable "Who's Who" of the nation's top grey alpacas! His sire, Request the Best, is one of the finest grey herdsires to be found anywhere. MacDhui’s numerous awards include Reserve Champion and 1st Place at the 2002 Virginia Classic, 2nd Place adult halter and 2nd Place fleece at MaPaca 2002, 1st Place yearling halter at MaPaca 2001 and 2nd Place yearling halter at the 2001 Ohio Triple Crown. Marcel’s dam is the award winning River Rock’s Sabrina with incredible density, staple length and heavy bone. Sabrina inherited the fiber quality, growth rate and character of her Peruvian sire, NWA Ltd Leo and her grandsire Accoyo Peruvian Leon. Her dark color genetics and phenomenal density and sheen come from her true black dam, Black Moon, whose heritage is all black and grey. Her dense fleece took a 3rd at the highly competitive 2001 EVAA show and 2nd as a five year old at the 2005 ABC show. She consistently produces a 7 pound blanket. Marcel entered his first show a week after he turned six months old and brought home the blue. The judge admired his color, staple length and softness. Shorn, he earned the prestigious blue at MAPACA Jubilee 2007! His yearling blanket weighed 4lb7oz.
